Greetings!
Recently, we've seen a surge in phone calls at CEO reporting hacked e-mail accounts. With the growing number of computer users, hackers have increased incentive to find more creative ways to gather personal information. For this reason, it is extremely important to monitor your online accounts on a regular basis and make sure your personal information is safe.
We are featuring an article on Hacking - we hope you will find it informative.
We would also like to add new people to the mailing list - please forward the newsletter and ask your friends to add their email address.
Sincerely,
Jamshid Javidi, President, CEO Computers
and

 | How to know if you have been hacked!!! |
The number one way to tell if your e-mail account has been hacked is if you cannot login to your account. If you find that your usual username and password combination is not working, there's a good chance the account has been compromised.
Another way to determine if your e-mail account has been hacked is if you hear from your friends and family that they have received one of the following types of spam e-mails from you -
*E-mails containing nothing but a single link
*Messages claiming that you (the hacked victim) are stuck in a foreign country and need money
*E-mails containing links to suspicious-looking shopping websites
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
When your e-mail account is hacked, your personal information is compromised. Not only will the hackers have access to the content of your personal e-mails, but all of your contacts are at risk as well. If your e-mail contacts open the infectious e-mail sent by the hackers, their e-mail account and computer system become at risk for being hacked as well.
Also, if someone accesses your e-mail password and you use the same password for all of your online accounts, then everything is compromised.
QUICK TIP
The best way to protect yourself from internet scammers is by changing your password once a month. By using a combination of letters, numbers and symbols, you're chances of becoming a victim decrease drastically.
If you have any questions about online security or think you may have fallen victim to e-mail hackers, don't hesitate to give us a call CEO 818-501-2281).

  | A Short History of Windows |
If you have a PC or IBM format computer chances are pretty good that you are running a Windows Operating System from Microsoft. Windows Operating Systems have been around since the 1990's and you should be familiar with some of the names and chronology of their development.
An operating system is the collection of software that controls how the computer works.
Below is a diagram showing the basic development of the Windows operating system from 1990 to 2010.

Ask the Professor - Cecile Bendavid
Professor of Computer Science - California State University Northridge and Director of New Business Development for CEO Computers.
Q. Do mice still need mousepads?
A. Optical mice will work on any surface without a mousepad, but some people still use a pad to protect their furniture from being marred as the mouse moves. Trackball mice also don't require mousepads.
Q. Are there wireless mice?
A. Just as there are wireless keyboards, there are wireless mice, both optical and trackball. Wireless mice are similar to wireless keyboards in that they use batteries and send data to the computer by radio or light waves. If you have an Radio Frequency (RF) wireless keyboard, your RF wireless mouse and keyboard usually can share the same RF receiver.
