"I can't thank Carrie enough for giving me the "kick" I needed to get back on track again for a healthier lifestyle. After starting a business, I found it easy to fall behind in taking care of myself. Carrie helped me realize the most important part of my business, is taking care of myself. As a result of working with Carrie our entire family is eating healthier, losing weight, and is on a regular exercise program. She has truly helped me embrace the importance of work/life balance in my career, home, and life as a mother. Thanks, Carrie! "

How Commitment Leads To Motivation

2011The year is more than half way over, is it turning out the way you had hoped? If you made a New Year's resolution for 2011, how is it going? What about your goals for this year, are you accomplishing them? You may recall, instead of making New Year's Resolutions this year I chose to focus on a word for the year, self-care.  I have been blogging about it, so you can check out my progress  if you want.  I will say, while I thought I had done pretty well practicing self-care, I now realize there was definite room for improvement. But, this article isn't about my word of the year. It is about how to get motivated by making a commitment to yourself.

I often hear people say things like, "I am just not motivated to exercise" or "I am never in the mood to write that book I have always wanted to write" or "I don't have time to cook". These are all true feelings that people have, and they often wish they didn't feel that way. However, it often comes down to making a commitment to yourself in order to get motivated to work out, write a book or start cooking more.

When you make a commitment to someone else you probably follow through with it most of the time. So why, when it comes to ourselves do we often fall short? Is it time for you to make a serious commitment to yourself so that you are motivated to accomplish those New Year's resolutions or goals?  You still have time to do it this year, if you choose to make a commitment to yourself.

Learn 8 easy steps to get motivated.
