Feeling sorta blah?
Smile
Have you ever been in a bad mood and someone smiled at you and you instantly felt better after you smiled back? If you have not experienced this, it is one of those moments that can seem magical. Magical, in the sense that a smile can actually make you feel better instantly.
This seems so simple, a smile. But I ask you, do you think you smile a lot? Think about that for a moment. We see children smiling all the time, yet it is seems less frequent in adults.
I realize that there are times when we are all faced with difficult situations and it may be difficult to smile. But a smile can be healing.
I have a friend on facebook that has been listing each day things that make him smile. I thought, "what a great example to share in my smile article"! I couldn't have planned it any better. I thought it was such a great idea and I wanted to share it with you as something for you to try. Certainly, you don't need to post on facebook unless you want to, but just being more aware of the things that make you smile will actually help you smile more. So today or tomorrow take notice of the things that make you smile. It might be a flower blooming, a child playing, a friend calling or the sun coming through the clouds . . . but take notice and smile.
A smile releases stress and you feel calmer.
A smile makes you happy and you feel more joy.
A smile can even increase your self-confidence.
There is much research that shows that happy people have a stronger immune system and ultimately live longer. So get your smile on!
Smiling is contagious! When someone smiles at you, even a stranger, you smile back. It can change your mood instantly. Try smiling more each day and see if it doesn't bring more joy in your day to day life:)
