Create a Word Theme for 2011
Choose a word for the year!

Can you believe it is 2011? Another decade has begun! While New Year's resolutions are very popular this time of year they are often forgotten by June and towards the end of the year suddenly remembered and a big rush to try and accomplish them or decide to forget them all together.

If you have or haven't created a list of resolutions, how about creating a theme for the year based on one word and see how it works compared to a list of resolutions.

Imagine starting this decade with a one word theme . . . interesting thought right?

Why create a one-word theme?

  • It simplifies things
  • Easier to remember
  • Keeps you focused

In the past I have created an affirmation for the year and have done New Year's resolutions. However, when I read Mari Smith's blog post titled, "My One-Word Theme for 2011" I thought getting a one word theme for the year might be a perfect way to start this decade!

As I was thinking this idea over, I got a second confirmation that this was exactly what I needed to do for 2011.  I read the same idea on my good friend Michelle Geoffroy's The Creative Healing Studio blog  titled Welcome 2011

As you can see I can't take credit for this idea, but I thought it was so wonderful that I had to share it with you just in case you wanted to try something new!

Steps to create your one word theme for 2011:

  1. Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. Ask yourself what word should be your theme for the year.
  4. Listen to yourself and see what word pops up for you.
  5. Go with the first word - you can repeat this several times to ensure the word that came up for you is the right word for you for 2011.
Once you have decided on a word you can complete Joy Tanksley's worksheet Explore Your Word of The Year that I found on Michelle's blog post. This worksheet will help you define what your word means to you.

If you have an interest in learning what word I chose for 2011 check it out here. I also plan to share my experience with my one word 2011 theme throughout the year on my blog.

Have fun creating your one word theme for 2011!

Quinoa is a grain many people have not heard of before but it is fast becoming a favorite for those that try it. It has become a staple in my house and I actually crave it. It is one of the most versatile grains and it has a tremendous amount of health benefits and is super easy to make.

Why eat quinoa? What are the health benefits and is it really that easy to make? To get the answers to those questions and learn more about quinoa go to Carrie's blog - click here.
