"While talking with Carrie my vision and direction became abundantly clear. I began the conversation by explaining that I had lost my focus and was uncertain who my target market really was. My body was slumped and my head was in my hands. As we dug into my heart, I felt myself open first with a twinkle in the eye. The more Carrie engaged me, the more obvious it all became. By the end of our time together, I was standing in the sun-filled window knowing in my deepest being what I needed, no, strongly desired, to do. The momentum has continued as I am not following a distinct path that brings joy and success to myself and those I touch."y

Keep them or let them go?
past holiday cards

Tis the season to be jolly . . . right? The holiday season can be very joyful but there is also added pressure to get everything done. Are there traditions you do every year during the holiday season? Does the tradition bring joy or stress to your life?

I love most of my traditions during the holiday season; however there was one that was stressing me out! It was the tradition of the holiday card!

I thought it might be time to give this tradition up because I was actually dreading it. When I shared that with my family it didn't go over very well. What did go well is how they helped me figure out a way to make it simpler. The tradition had almost always been that I would take a holiday theme picture of my two girls and create a card then get it printed. This sounds pretty easy but I was really not into it this year. My family suggested I use pictures that I have already taken throughout the year. At first, I thought, "I can't do that it is tradition that I always take a new picture" but then I realized that taking a new picture . . . that part of the tradition was not enjoyable for me this year. So why not use pictures that I have taken already? What is the big deal . . . right? The big deal was letting go of the tradition and tweaking it a little so that it would be joyful again for me this year. I was able to let it go and had a great time creating our family holiday card and the stress was gone . . . just tweaking a little made the tradition fun and not stressful.

Traditions are usually handed down from generation to generation or maybe you have created new traditions. This year I ask you to take a look at your traditions during the holiday season and make sure they still bring you joy. If they don't then it might be time to let them go and keep them as good memories or change them up so that they are bringing you more joy than stress.

To learn why a tradition might no longer bring you joy and what you can do about it; plus a few ideas for new traditions continue reading here - my blog.
