I love and appreciate me! |
When November comes it is the perfect reminder to give thanks for the blessings in our life. Although being thankful at all times of the year is the best; celebrating Thanksgiving tends to make it a more prominent conversation and thought in our mind. We are thankful for our family, our pets, our home, our career, our food and even our car but what about ourselves?
Sometimes we take ourselves for granted and often that includes our health. This is a perfect time to be thankful for our eyes that help us see the world, our feet for getting us from place to place, our heart for beating every second, our hearing to hear the sounds of our loved ones and everything else about us because we are special and unique. We deserve our own love and gratitude to ourselves!
When you begin to have gratitude for your life and who you are, a shift begins to happen. There is a lightness and a sense of joy that fills you up. You begin to smile when you think of yourself because you are feeling the love and gratitude you are sending to you. When it comes from a place of love and not the place of your ego, you can feel the love and gratitude envelope your body. It is so easy to beat ourselves up about something and say silent negative thoughts in our mind, but what if we switched it up and said only loving and appreciative thoughts inside our heads about ourselves? How might that change how we feel?
What can happen when you give gratitude and love to yourself?
- You stand taller
- You smile more
- You feel more relaxed
- You breathe a sense of relief
- You laugh more
- You feel good inside
When you are thankful for your life and who you are - everything changes. This is a great quote written by an unknown author, "Gratitude is the best attitude".
Can you commit to saying to yourself everyday for a week that you love and appreciate yourself. Try saying it right now, "I love me! I am so thankful for me!". Notice how you feel when feeling gratitude for yourself. It might feel uncomfortable or it might feel wonderful, either way keep doing it for a week. Try it a few times a day.
Tips on how to add gratitude for yourself in your life for a whole week:
- After you brush your teeth say to yourself in the mirror, " I love me and I am so thankful for me!"
- Before you get out of bed in the morning start the day telling yourself how much you love yourself.
- End the day at night with a silent thought to yourself of love and appreciation for you.
- Write a post-it note and put it in a strategic place so you don't forget to say to yourself how much you love and appreciate you.
Enjoy the new found respect and kindness you have for yourself when you start loving and appreciating yourself more. Having gratitude for you and your life is a good thing!
