"Carrie has helped me create more balance in my life. She has taught me, inspired me, and sometimes kicked my butt (nicely, of course) with her knowledge of nutrition, wellness, and positive energy. I originally approached Carrie with the goal of losing weight and having more energy. I had no idea how much more ground we would cover in our work together! I highly recommend Carrie if you want to make your life healthier all the way around."

A date!
Get it on the calendar
beach love
When was the last time you went on a date? Whether with your significant other, partner or by yourself. Yes, a date with yourself can be fun; doing something you enjoy and love to do.

A date night or date day with yourself can rejuvenate your spirit, and a date night with your significant other/partner can remind you why you got together in the first place.

With our busy lives and busy schedules date nights often get lost in the shuffle and only happen on an anniversary or a special occasion. At a recent conference I attended I heard Zig Zigler, a motivational speaker and author, speak about his wife, whom he called his red head. Zig Zigler is in his 80's and he beamed like a teenager in love while he spoke about her. At the same conference, I met a woman that shared a beautiful story with me of her parents and how one passed away and the other passed days later from a broken heart. LOVE.

So often I hear people say I don't have time to go on a date night, or what would I do if I went out by myself? Connecting with the love you have for yourself, the things you enjoy or the love you have for someone else is something that shouldn't be lost on your long list of things to do. This is your reminder to schedule a date with yourself or someone you love.
  • Do something you enjoy
  • Treasure the time with yourself
  • Give yourself some love and attention
  • Schedule a date with someone you love
  • Then have an uninterrupted conversation
  • Enjoy each other's company
  • Be spontaneous
  • Reconnect with the love in your heart and let the routine of life's responsibilities go, even if for just a few hours
  • You will have a sense of renewal and connection whether with yourself or with someone you love
Get going. . . .set a date on the calendar.

Making lunch? Make it fun!
lunch box

With the new school year fast approaching, packing lunches again is just around the corner and is often considered a tedious task that parents typically dread. The main reason being it isn't always easy to come up with healthy food options your child will eat and not toss in the trash.  With a few more days of summer left why not try some of these ideas so that you can tackle and overcome those "lunch box blues" once the school year is in full swing.

  1. Change the Ughh to Ahhh.  Planning with your child is the key to overcoming the "ughh" dread factor.  Planning is nothing new, but getting your kids involved will be. All school age kids like to be asked their opinion and like being heard, use this as an opportunity to let your child help make the decisions.  Before the school year starts, set aside time and have a conversation about nutritious foods and work together to come up with ideas. Make it fun and create a list together that you can use all year.
  2. Be creative, Get more ideas. Do you like eating the same stuff - neither will they.  Don't stick with the same old same old. Pull out cookbooks, go to the library and find kid cookbooks or search online for healthy kid lunch ideas and recipes. When you make it fun and spend time together brainstorming, your child will want to try something new.
  3. Cook once, Eat twice. Once you have your ideas, then experiment with cooking together. Bring your child into the kitchen to help prepare a new meal. When your child participates with cooking a meal they are more likely to eat it. Then use the leftovers in the lunch box.
