Hello, summer! We've been waiting for you to show up (sometimes we thought you'd never get here!). Now that you're arrived we are heading outdoors to soak up the sun and have some fun with picnics and BBQs. Of course, because we are smart about our health and fitness, we'll want to learn a few things. Like...what's in that hot dog we are eating? (Don't worry, it's not scare tactic.)

If you're like us, you also like taking your workout outdoors to enjoy the sun, fresh air and smells of summer. It's important to be safe, especially when temperatures start to climb. We're linking to a great article featuring 13 ways to cool down your summer workout. After all, it's always cool to be cool!

Finally, we're taking a look at the new federal government food guidelines. Gone are the days of the food pyramid we grew up on. They have revamped it and are calling it MyPlate in hopes this simple visual makes it easier for people to understand portion sizes. We can always use a good reminder about portion control.

So, get out there and enjoy your summer! See you next month.

Your Questions Answered
muscle crap"Sometimes I get stiff when I sit at work for too long? Why do my muscles tighten up and what can I do to prevent it?" Frank, Woodbridge NJ

Tight muscles are not only frustrating and painful, but can also limit movement. Worst of all, they can make it harder to stick to your exercise program.
