Welcome Hillcrest ECC!

Thanks to a grant from WA State Representative Marcie Maxwell,
The Hillcrest Early Childhood Center will experience the First Note Music Curriculum in at least four of their classrooms next month. Rep. Maxwell made her gift via the Renton Community Foundation, Maxwell Fund for Youth and Families.

The ECEAP is modeled after the federally funded Head Start program.

First Note Launches This Fall

 Back to School Crayons

Next month is going to bring a lot of fun and excitement to several hundred PreK to 1st grade students who are going to meet Miss Melody and the "Music Friends" as they are taken on a journey of learning music basics over the coming school year.  As they are taken (via DVD) to the First Note Music Store, they will also be introduced to instruments and music from different parts of the world at the end of each lesson. They will also learn nearly 50 songs, including several that are sung in different languages (you know, the kind that scare adults but kids pick up right away).

The First Note Kit (pictured) is complete with everything a teacher or classroom volunteer will need to facilitate the 30 lessons once per week. A joyful and engaging learning experience awaits our youngest students!

If you would like more information about how you can offer First Note in your school, please email us at info@firstnote.com or call 425.250.2385.

Welcome Board Members!

First Note, Inc. is fortunate to have Tom Cleveland (top), Dell Keehn (right) and Joan Duffell join our Board of Directors as we launch version 1.0 of the First Note Music Curriculum.  As a group, the professional and civic accomplishments of these three are too vast to list here so check out their complete biographies on the First Note website. First Note, Inc. was formed earlier this year to further develop, support and build the First Note Music Curriculum, while the CJoan Duffellhildren's Music Foundation focuses on supporting music education for less fortunate and under served students. This combination of FN and CMF gives both organizations the opportunity to focus, while maintaining the synchronous goal of providing ALL of our youngest students with a music education!
