Many organizations and individuals provided the financial and in-kind support that made this program possible, but 2 stand out in particular: The Wissner-Slivka Foundation and the Sessions Family Foundation both of whom provided the matching funds that accounted for more than half of all that was needed. Thanks to you, thousands of our youngest students will have music to look forward to!

March is Music in our Schools Month!

March is Music In Our Schools Month!   Music programs nationwide are in danger. State and local legislators are attempting to make up for funding shortfalls in this difficult economy by cutting education budgets, which can place school music at risk. Advocacy takes place on many fronts, and aKids Messing Arounddvocates for music education need to learn to speak to different audiences, each of whom has a key contribution to make. Now's the time to get involved and do your part to ensure that America's students have access to a comprehensive, sequential music education taught by exemplary music educators! 

 

Welcome Leschi Elementary!

The latest school to be introducing First Note to their youngest students this fall is Leschi Elementary School in the Seattle Public School District.  A core belief of Leschi is that "learning is built on quality instruction and the active participation of learners".  We're happy to be part of helping them realize this goal!
