Along with providing a hosted Happy Hour and food served by the renowned Wild Ginger Restaurant, the Children's Music Foundation will be debuting the First Note Music Curriculum for the first time at this event so you won't  want to miss it!

First Note Music Store Takes Shape

Each lesson in the First Note program takes place in the First Note Music Store which is a studio creation being constructed and installed this weekend for filming next week. The lessons begin with a shot of the store front (draft version featured below) and then the participating classrooms "enter" the store where Miss Melody and the Music Friends are waiting to teach them their lesson for the week.

OK, so it's not an actual store but don't tell our classroom students that!   Special thanks also to Mills Music for their generous contribution of instruments and other store props to make this an authentic experience for students across the country.

 Behind the Scenes

Along with Director Jerry Dahlberg,  We are extremely fortunate to have Assistant Director Leslie Van Ee (both pictured below) working on this project with us.

 Jerry and Leslie

Leslie's credits include work with CBS, NBC, Spelling Entertainment, and Warner Brothers. She assisted in producing "Bill Nye the Science Guy" with Disney and KCTS as well as many other programs that included working with kids, making her uniquely qualified to show us the ropes on this project.

Filming Begins Next Week

Our Music Friends have been working extra hard over the last couple of months, reahearsing for next weeks filming of all 30, year 1 First Note lessons. We've also added a new character to our group! Rachel Brackett  (aka "Miss Melody" pictured below) has been working with us and our kids over this past year and now heads up the classroom lessons. Rachel has been teaching music to elementary school students for more than 8 years and was right at home with the material and working with the Music Friends
