Rachel Brackett 2

Over the past year, Rachel has been a key player in the development of our First Note  program. She was the music director for our music CD, participated in our 4-lesson demo and is now collaborating with us on enhancing the written curriculum. She has supported CMF from the beginning and we are lucky to have her talent and expertise integrated into our First Note program.

 Program Update St. Paddy Frankie

In addition to continuing to work on the First Note kindergarten curriculum, this last month we have initiated work on the "Teacher Resource Center" that will contain information for teachers to access through a password-protected area of the CMF website. The interface (pictured below) will offer a variety of options in an easy-to-use,teacher-friendly format so that our First Note teachers can easily find the information they're Quid Mockup 2looking for.  This will include video examples of how various teachers have approached the lessons, along with helpful tips from our e-mentors. The cultural section will guide teachers to many more facts, photos and videos about the country represented in each lesson, as well as links to related websites.

 Music Research

ScienceDaily (Nov. 5, 2008) - A Harvard-based study has found that children who study a musical Piano Fingersinstrument for at least three years outperform children with no instrumental training-not only in tests of auditory discrimination and finger dexterity (skills honed by the study of a musical instrument), but also on tests measuring verbal ability and visual pattern completion (skills not normally associated with music).
