Program Update

The First Note program is now at the stage where the set concept and design are being established (artist renderings below).
Storefront Renderings
The 'set' for the DVD production will be a music store (the "First Note Music Store" of course) where our Music Man, Arturo, will teach classes once per week.
The practice rooms are located in the back of the store where the Music Friends assemble to practice their lesson that day.  A separate section of the store will be designated for the "Special Cultural Guest" who will be presenting the Music Man an instrument from another country each week, and show students where their country is located on a world map.

First Event a Success!

Due to the generosity of those that support Jan 20 event 1music in our schools, we exceeded our goal of raising $60,000 and everyone had a great time at our first annual benefit concert titled "Life's Journey Through Song", hosted by KING5 TV News Anchor Joyce Taylor. Foundation board member, Gary Wenet, assembled the entertainment and performed vocals with several professiEvent Photo 2onals including Andy Shaw, Robert Damper and Nancy Nolan. A special and particularly moving part of the concert was when Gary sang with longtime friend Fred Rubin (pictured) and then with his daughter Sophie (pictured) which produced more than a few teary eyes in the audience.

Other performers included The Eriam Sisters and our own Arturo Rodriguez, also known as "The Music Man", who brought out some of his "Music Friends" and proceded to get the audience movin' and shakin' with shakers provided at each table.

Thank you Volunteers!  None of this would have been possible without our volunteer help led by Erin Ashley, our Event Manager.  Thank you Erin and your dedicated hard working team!
