You won't want to miss Life's Journey Through Song, an evening of musical fun where CMF Board Member Gary Wenet will be debuting his singing talents along with special guests, Bernadette Bascom, The Eriam Sisters, keyboardist Robert Damper, and others.

Award winning KING 5 TV anchor Joyce Taylor will MC the event and we may be in for a surprise as she is quite musical herself! The event will be held at theTriple Door Mainstage (pictured above) in Seattle on January 20, 2011.

CMF Presents at ArtsTime

"ArtsTime" is a biennial statewide arts education conference held in Washington State. Last week, hundreds of artists, arts professionals, administrators, principals, and classroom teachers from every part of Washington state came together for the two-day event filled with workshops, presentations, performances and a trade show.

CMF was invited to present the First Note program. Those in attendance were given the opportunity to participate in doing both "Washing Windows" and the "Hamster Wheel" with their shakers before participating in a quiz and winning prizes!

Thanks to our Music Friends!

Music Friends CD GiftWe just can't stress enough the important role that our young students play in helping produce the First Note music program. Their dedication, energy and good old-fashioned hard work have made several of the essential pieces of this program possible. As a thank you, we put on a recognition party where we handed each of them a personalized plaque that thanked them as "recording artists" for The Children's Music Foundation.  The party just wouldn't have been complete without the Frankie Cake! Thanks again, Music Friends!

Frankie Dance takes shape

Anne Green Gilbert, best known for her widely acclaimed creation of the BrainDance, has created a short series of moves, aptly called the "Frankie Dance", to accompany the theme song that is sung at the beginning and the end of each of the 30 lessons of the First Note music  program.  Some of our Music Friends are seen here practicing the moves in the studio where we filmed a short training video last week.  Slowly but surely the First Note program is coming together!  We're still raising funds to complete the video portion of the complete curriculum, as we continue to receive inquiries from interested schools.

Sincerely,
RO Sig
