First Note Beta Version in Final Stages

The first 4 beta lessons have been filmed and are in post production, and the teacher manual is being finalized. We had a chance to see a preview of lesson 2 and this is going to be a great program (of course I'm not biased)! The final beta version is scheduled to be finished at the end of this month and sent on to our test classrooms for evaluation in October/November.

I can't thank the team enough for their dedication and passion for First Note!

Sincerely,

Music A Core Subject

In a recent letter to education leaders, The Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, reminds us that the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) defines the arts as a core subject, and further stated that the arts (including music) play a significant role in children's development and learning process.

This might seem rather obvious to many, but recent shifts in emphasis to those subjects that are 'tested' have been given priority over the arts. The pendulum is swinging back, though these programs are now under pressure from school budget cuts, making First Note a well-timed and much needed program.
