Last month I was privileged to be invited to a small gathering put on by the Arts Corps (www.artscorps.org) in honor of a visit by Dr. Steven Seidel, head of Harvard University's Project Zero. Pictured are Arts Corps founder Lisa Fitzhugh, Dr. Seidel, and yours truly. Both have made key introductions and contributions to the development of First Note.

Staff and Board

It's amazing to me what people will do in the name of helping kids and education.  Paulette Evans has joined CMF as volunteer Program Director.  Paulette is a former elementary school teacher and will add a much needed element of an 'in the classroom' perspective to the development of First Note. Thank you Paulette!

Last month, we added 2 new members to our Board of Directors: Professor Patricia Campbell from the University of Washington, and Washington State Senator Rosemary McAuliffe. These are both strong additions to CMF and will play a key role in advancing the mission of CMF. You can check out their bios on our website (www.cmfinc.org ) .

Program Development

Work has begun on the 4 - lesson 'alpha' sample version of First Note with Prof. Campbell of the University of Washington and her team developing the curriculum, and Arturo Rodriquez (www.arturorodriguez.com) acting as our video 'Music Man'.  We're planning on shooting the actual video by mid-July with a draft version ready by mid-August.  Our plan is to have 10 teachers/classrooms sample the curriculum this fall.

We'd like to thank Emerald City Graphics (www.emeraldcg.com ) as our most recent in-kind donor.

A Little Corny Humor...

A man is walking in a graveyard when he hears the Third Symphony played backward. When it's over, the Second Symphony starts playing, also backward, and then the First. "What's going on?" he asks a cemetery worker.

"It's Beethoven," says the worker. "He's decomposing".        Jeremy Hone, Readers Digest.
