Greetings!

Thunder is one of our many dogs available for adoption!

It seems like just yesterday I was wishing everyone a happy spring and now it's time to wish everyone a happy fall! One great thing about fall is that October is Adopt-A-Dog Month! Everyone here at PARL is looking forward to helping all of our dog residents find their forever homes, so stop in for a visit or check out our website to see who might be waiting for you! Included in this newsletter is all of the information regarding our October promotions. Please read on and when you are thinking about the time you'll be spending in your yard or the relaxing nature walks you want to take, think about how nice it would be to do these things with a new canine friend.

Long-Time Residents (finally) Find Love!
happy tails for many parl animals

September was a very good adoption month here at PARL! We had the pleasure to send off many long-time residents to their new forever homes such as Oreo, a rabbit that had been with us since March and Blackey, a 10 year-old cat that came to us last Feruary when there was still snow on the ground!

Another adoption that put a smile on our faces was a dog named Rusty. A staff and volunteer favorite, Rusty was a happy-go-lucky Lab mix who was surrendered in February. We have to say that as much as we enjoyed his company, we couldn't wait for someone to see how special he was and take him home. We're happy to report that Rusty (pictured here with his new owners) is now happily in his forever home after 6 long months at PARL.  Good Luck to Rusty and all the animals that found a home in September!

Thanks Anthropologie!
in-store event success

Shelter dog, Ruby (who's still available for adoption) greeted everyone!
Thanks to our friends at Anthropologie in Garden City for being such great hosts for their Sit. Stay. Love. event. Shelter dogs, Ruby and Zeus had a great time! Also a big thank you to everyone who stopped by and dropped off donations! Over $100 was raised for PARL, along with many donations of pet food for our Community Food Bank!

PARL Alumni "Elvis" Brisco says...
keep your pets safe for halloween!

Make sure your pets are wearing an up-to-date I.D. tag.

Many dogs can get loose when the door opens for trick-or-treaters, and the presence of little (and big) costumed people often scares animals, increasing the chance that dogs may act aggressively and/ or run away. Be sure to have up-to-date identification on your pets at all times...more

say hello to coco

Coco is a sweet 5 year old chocolate Labrador Retriever who has a sad tale to tell and is hoping for a happy ending.

Up unitl now, Coco lived a quiet life until her owner passed away. She was then living with a neighhbor for about a week but the activity level in their home and the children and grandchildren was just too much for this girl so they brought her to PARL...more

Happy Tails
bo's happy tale

Dear P.A.R.L Staff,
Back in March, I decided I was moving back to Providence after a 5 year stint in Boston. I happened to be visiting my mom in RI, and stopped by PARL to see the dogs, since I knew I would be adopting when I settled in come May. It was then that I met Beckham, and it was love at first sight. He was undergoing heartworm treatment, and I my current apartment didn't allow dogs, so it was impossible to adopt him at the time...more
