Greetings!

Rusty - one of the many dogs available for adoption at PARLWith summer coming to a close, PARL is happy to report that we have re-homed 29 dogs, 162 cats, and 6 small animals through July and August! Even with these numbers there are many more animals that are still waiting for their foreverhome. When you come in to visit it can be a little overwhelming, especially if you're looking for a dog. One question we hear everyday is, "All you have are Pit Bulls?" There is no denying that we do have a lot of Pit Bulls. There are, however, many myths and misconceptions about them.

MYTH -Pit Bulls have a locking jaw and can't let go

MYTH -Pit Bulls are genetically bred to kill people

MYTH -Pit Bulls are very aggressive

MYTH -Pit Bulls do not feel pain

MYTH -Pit Bulls cannot get along with any other animal

There are also many facts about them, too.

FACT -Pit Bulls are good natured

FACT -Pit Bulls are loyal companions

FACT -Pit Bulls are dependable

FACT -Pit Bulls are athletic and agile

Next time you visit please keep these facts in mind. Our staff is happy to answer any questions you have and introduce you to one of our fabulous Pits, so they themselves can show you how good natured, loyal and wonderful they really are!

marissa's a friend to our animals

Marissa is pictured with Koopa (available for adoption)and PARL staff member, Candace.

Marissa Golomboski, 11, of North Providence reached out to us last year looking for ways to help the animals here at PARL!  Since then, she has been a great  fundraiser and advocate for our organization!  Marissa has held two donation drives for PARL at the Pet Supplies Plus in North Providence (that she initiated all by herself)!  When asked what made Marissa want to help the animals here at PARL, Marissa answered "I love to help animals who don't have homes.  After my dog died last year, I just wanted to help those animals who don't have a home life."  Marissa has raised over $150 for homeless animals here at our shelter, as well as numerous donations of toys, pet food, blankets, etc..  From all of us here at PARL, THANK YOU MARISSA!

Happy Tails
clyde's happy tale

I adopted Clyde the cat recently from PARL. I also adopted Leo 2 years ago from PARL. My older cat wasn't very appreciative of Leo's playful nature and size (he's 18lbs) so it was time to get him a friend. I visit the shelter several time a week as I work around the corner from PARL...more
