PARL Pals

PARL Pals - Roxy & Hurley

Some animals, like people, just belong together. PARL Pals are pets that may have lived together all of their lives or maybe they just bonded during their stay at our shelter. Either way, we just can't bear to see them separated! It's our hope that a special adopter will feel the same way as we do and adopt them together. To make the deal even sweeter, we've made their adoption fees a 2-for-1 deal! Visit PARL Pals today to see who's waiting for you!

Greetings!

Charlee, one of the 15 dogs available for adoption!

Here at PARL it is ALL about the animals and as you read this there are currently 15 dogs, 86 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 hamsters, 3 guinea pigs and 1 finch waiting for YOU at PARL!  This month, we are featuring a few of our special programs to facilitate even more adoptions...such as our "PARL Pals" Program, PetSmart Luv-A-Pet Adoption Center & our "We've Been Waiting..." Program. As you read on and learn more about these programs you will see that we work very hard to be sure that our community knows that "Love is Adoptable at 34 Elbow Street!"

East Side Marketplace
fundraiser success!

Special thanks to the folks over at the East Side Marketplace for partnering with PARL and raising some much needed funds! From July 7-13th, 10% of the sale of pet food was donated to PARL for a grand total of $1,000! There was also a bin placed in the store for people to place donated items. It's community partners such as this that continues to allow us to help more and more animals. Thanks East Side Marketplace!

"We're Still Waiting..."
hoping for that second chance

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason as to why some animals get adopted quicker than others. Our "We're Still Waiting..." program highlights pets that have been awaiting adoption longer than others. They are happy, friendly pets that deserve an extra nudge from us to be noticed! Currently, we have 11 cats and 2 dogs in the program. This includes 3 who have been at the shelter for over 200 days such as "Waffles" (pictured above) who has been with us since 12/18/10.

This program is our way to help them say "take a look at me, I'm your new forever friend!" Visit "We're Still Waiting..." and spread the word about these wonderful (but sometimes overlooked) pets.

Dog Days of Summer
tips for a COOL summer!

PARL alumni Sam keeping cool!

While temperatures rise abnormally high in much of the country, be sure to protect your animal companions with these tips.

Never leave your pets in a parked car.

On a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels. On an 85 degree day, for example, the temperature inside a car with the windows opened slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees. Your pet may suffer irreversible organ damage or die. If you see an animal in distress in a parked car, contact the nearest animal shelter or police...more

say hello to parla!

It's not all cats and dogs at PARL! We receive many small critters such as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters...and of course birds, such as Parla. Happy Tails
lime's happy tale

Hello PARL!
I wanted to share an update on the wonderful cat I adopted from PARL back in January.
My first job out of college brought me to to providence, and as soon as I was settled in an apartment I wanted to adopt a cat. I had always grown up with cats and they fit nicely into my lifestyle.
So I went to PARL on the recommendation of a coworker. When I first started looking I thought in my head that I wanted an an
adult cat, a little older maybe, preferable orange and a lap cat. That is not what I got...
