Greetings!

PARL Pals, Tinkerbell & BooBoo

Summer is finally here and we are all ready to get out and enjoy some fun in the sun!  I know as much as we look forward to the good weather, so do the dogs here at PARL. Whether they are playing in one of the doggie pools in the yard or just lounging in the shade under a tree, they enjoy their playtime.

The mild weather of summer is a great time to adopt a dog. The endless amount of outdoor activities to partake in is perfect for a canine partner. Be it a walk on the beach, a hike in the woods or a picnic in the park, we urge you to consider adopting a PARL dog!   As for our adoptable cats, they will have no trouble finding a new favorite sunny spot in a new home. They may not need outdoor time but snuggling and bonding is something that we all need.

Maybe you could open up your heart and home to a PARL Pal Pair? This program makes it possible for pets who have lived together all of their lives or just bonded during their stay at our shelter to get adopted as a pair. Currently, Tinkerbell and Boo Boo are PARL Pals. The adoption fee is waived for one...so it's half the cost but twice the love! Some animals just belong together and we hope that this program helps facilitate many happy tails.

Brindle is the New Black!
eye-catching canines at parl

We are always watching trends in our shelter to be sure that we are on top of the best ways to serve our animals and community. Today we wanted to share an interesting and visually beautiful trend with you...we have nine beautiful brindle dogs available for adoption!

What is brindle you say? Brindle is a coat coloring pattern  that is sometimes described as "tiger striped", although the brindle pattern is more subtle than that of a tiger's coat. The streaks of color are usually darker than the base coat, which is often tawny or grayish, although very dark markings can be seen on a coat that is only slightly lighter.

Say hello to Koopa, Ruby, Rusty, Brodie and Weezie, Gina, Lucky, Danny, Beethoven, our  brindle dogs that we currently have available for adoption. And remember, "Brindle is Beautiful!" Pass it on...

Bed Bath & Beyond, located at 1500 Bald Hill Road in Warwick, is partnering with us here at the Providence Animal Rescue League!  Visit their brand new pet section and help the animals here at PARL!  Starting July 1st, you can pick up a special PARL/BBB wish-list at the front of the store to find out what items PARL's animals would like if they got their own shopping spree!  There will be a donation bin located at the front of the store for all in-store purchases, as well as for any other items people may want to donate. Visit Bed Bath & Beyond for directions and hours of operation.

Saving Animals One Pint at a Time!
a great night out for pet lovers

On Saturday, June 18th dogs and people alike came out to support PARL at our 2nd Annual Pints for Paws event at Nick-A-Nees in Providence! There were goodies for the pups and kitties and entertainment for us.
Thanks to all of your support and the support of local musicians and businesses we were able to raise $2410 for the animals and programs at PARL.

We would like to thank Nick-A-Nees for hosting this event along with Narragansett & Corona for providing kegs for our 100% donation drinks! Everyone enjoyed the amazing weather and music from Spogga, Tony Jones & the Cretin 3, Malyassa BellaRosa, and The Headcutters! Let's not forget the yummy tacos from the Poco Loco Taco truck and the hot dogs from Spikes. Hope to see you all next year!

Happy Tails
lola's  happy tale

I wanted to write and tell the PARL how thankful my husband and I are to have had the opportunity to adopt Lola. She was an 8 month old cocker spaniel who we adopted in February of 2010. Having grown up with dogs in my home since I was a small child, I was excited to adopt a dog to live with me and my husband in our new home. As soon as I saw Lola I knew she was the perfect fit for us. We had no idea what kind of life she had prior to us adopting her, but we never could have been prepared for what we brought home that day in February...more
