Greetings!

Zeus, enjoying the sunshine as he awaits his forever home!

Spring has finally sprung and we look forward to new and exciting happenings at PARL. One of the changes you will notice is that this message is not from Carmine DiCenso. Carmine has recently left his Executive Director position here at PARL for a wonderful management opportunity at Fenway Bark in Boston, MA.  We wish him all the best and want him to know he will be truly missed.

Last month, we introduced you to animal behaviorist, Katenna Jones. She is heading up our new animal enrichment programs and we're happy to announce that progress has been made. Dogs are getting daily outdoor time and enjoying some well-deserved stress-relieving time away from their kennels. Volunteers are being trained in "quiet kennel" techniques to re-shape negative behaviors, such as excessive barking and jumping. We're also in the process of re-purposing a room for this program to include a communication center and a place to house training equipment.

So the next time you're at PARL looking for a new family member and you see a volunteer clicker training in the kennels or maybe out in the yard with one of our wonderful dogs you'll now know what it's all about. Our mission is to find a forever home for each of our animals but you can be sure that in the meantime we will do everything in our power to make their stay at PARL a beneficial and comfortable one.

As always, we thank you for supporting PARL and helping us make a difference in the lives of animals in our community.

Doreen Caruso

 Interim Executive Director
