Love is Adoptable at 34 Elbow Street!
February 2010

February's Wish List Item

We would appreciate donations of large, fluffy comforters to help keep our dogs cozy and warm. Gently used is fine by us and would be much appreciated! Donations can be shipped or dropped off at 34 Elbow Street in Providence.

Take a look at our full Wish List to see what else will assist us in the caring for the animals!

Helping Hands in our Community

Employees of RIEDC headed up a donation drive for PARL and we had the pleasure to meet Lori Bassett and Lou Francis who brought the goodies including food, blankets and treats to PARL this month. We can't thank people like this enough for their thoughtful generosity. It truly makes our day and makes our animals much more comfortable. Thanks RI Economic Development Corporation!

Greetings!

Brady, 2010 PARL alumni

Here we are a month deep into 2011 and it feels like we have done nothing more than shovel snow. While PARL staff and volunteers have done their fair share of shoveling we have accomplished much more than just that. A steady stream of animals continue to flow in and out of our doors. Adoptions have been great  with many a shelter resident finding their perfect matches.

Dare I say that the snow does have some benefits?  Well, at least in the eyes of some of our canine companions. Rambo, Charlie and a few other PARL dogs have found their inner husky this winter. Videos of some of PARL's canine residents at play can be found on PARL's Facebook page. Be sure to check out these guys romping around in the frozen tundra of Providence. Seeing these guys enjoy themselves is almost enough to make us forget about the cold and snow-almost. I think many of you would agree that it is time for warmer weather.

PARL wants to do our part in warming up February by warming your hearts with some promotions, events and happenings throughout the month.  This edition is loaded with details on how we plan on celebrating that special day in February...you know... Spay Day! (I bet you thought I was going to talk about that other special day dedicated to pink hearts and flowers). Well, Valentine's Day will also not be ignored. The match-makers here at PARL have all sorts of surprises for you aimed at helping you find your purr-fect match or puppy love.

Hang in there folks, pretty soon it will be August and we will all be complaining about the heat and humidity.

Happy February,

Executive Director

Carmine DiCenso

The "Face of Pet Walk" 2011
Sloan & Casey!

Pet Walk is such a fun event to plan for and in 2010 we thought... why not give our supporters a chance to be part of it?

As many of you know, PARL's other signature fundraising event, The Rescue, was held last November and one of its highlights is a fabulous auction. This year we added the "Face of Pet Walk" to the live auction. PARL supporters were given the chance to "bid their tails off" on the opportunity for their dog to be a star!

We are happy to announce that the "Face of Pet Walk" winner is...Sloan & Casey! Their mom, Nini Silva was the highest bidder at our live auction! Nini is also the owner of Chi, a dog fitness club right here in little Rhody. We are thrilled to have an animal lover such as Nini and her  beautiful dogs representing Pet Walk this year!

Get all the de-tails about one of our most anticipated events of the year at Pet Walk 2011 today!

Happy Tails!

senior life is good...just ask rascal!

My husband and I adopted Rascal, a senior shih tzu, from PARL in November. He's our first dog and we fell in love with him right away! He does a special happy dance for us when we come home, snores like a freight train, thinks he's a guard dog and his primary goal in life is to be snuggled up next to us on the couch, ideally on his back so he can get tummy rubs...more
