~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Program pays landowners to plant trees and improve stream health
The Pa. Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), a
voluntary program, encourages landowners to plant trees to promote clean water
and to help everyone downstream - all the way to the Chesapeake Bay.
CREP is designed to improve water
quality, benefit wildlife through habitat development, and reward participants
for doing their part for conservation. CREP participants receive free assistance
to plan, design, and implement forested buffer projects. Biologists can help
determine the best native plants to actively enhance habitat on a particular
property, for example, tree plantings to establish cover and browse for
whitetail deer or songbirds.
More information is available by
calling 1-800-941-CREP or visiting www.cbf.org/CREP. CREP is available
statewide except for eight counties on the Delaware River. These counties have
available the Continuous Conservation Reserve Program, which is similar to
CREP. |
