February Calendar

By Chad Greenlaw

Some people were wondering why the students at St. Peter School had February Vacation since there was so many snow days this year. School principal, Mrs. Sickinger, said "We are having February vacation because we follow the City of Warwick and they weren't cutting it."  She went on to say "Another reason is that a lot of kids get sick in February and the vacation is a nice break for them to recover and get better."

During the break, some people go on vacation and some people stay home. Michael, 5th grader, said he "played video games." Ryan, 5th grader, said he "went to New Hampshire and to a party." Dylan, 5th grader, said he "went to a party." So that is what some of the students did over February vacation.

Mrs. Sickinger said "another reason we are having February Vacation is that some people had vacations planned so the teachers would only be educating half the students."

Fad or Obsession?

By Kara Quinn

A lot of people think that too many people wear Uggs and North Face jackets. North Face and Uggs seem to have become an obsession. One reason why everyone likes them is because it's a new style. Kids everywhere wear them.  Sam, 7th grader, says that she "doesn't think that they have become an obsession". Sophia, 5th grader, says "Yes, pretty much everyone wears them." Kristina, 5th grader, says "Yes everyone wears them." Everyone says that they have seen a lot of kids wear them everywhere. So, the conclusion is that they have become a obsession.

c.conwayEmma's Cast

By Caitlyn Conway

emmaOn March 9, 2011, Kindergartener, Emma, broke her leg. Kindergarten aide, Mrs. Jarvis said "I was nervous about Emma getting around with her leg in a cast." Mr. Evans was really sad that Emma broke her leg since she couldn't take gym class while she was in a cast.  When Emma returned to school, she said "I like getting all the attention." Emma had a walker to get around school. Her friends helped her with her book bags. Emma added that she "loves people signing my cast."

a.joyalGaGa Unleashed

By Adam Joyal

On February 13, 2011, Lady GaGa released the single "Born This Way" for her new album "Born This Way".

The single was released through the popular video sharing website, YouTube, followed a few weeks later by the music video. The video was "unique" to say the least.  This album has been in the work for the past two years.  The single will lay the foundation for her upcoming album "Born This Way".  With her last album "The Fame", GaGa used the tactic of releasing a single through YouTube then following with the release of the entire album.

There are some "little monsters" aka Lady GaGa fans, in Middle School, including Erin. She said about the video "IT'S AMAZING!!!" Also, 8th Grader, Caroline, said "It is a creative fun song".  Even some teachers are loving this song with Mrs. Langlais saying it was "Unique, and (plans) on downloading it to (her) iPod".

s.kazTeachers and Students prepare for Second Annual

"So You Think You Can Dance

With the Teachers?"
Save the Date: May 21st

By Sophia Kaczmarzyk

St. Peter School is getting ready for their second annual dancing competition, "So You Think You Can Dance with the Teachers?" on May 21, 2011. The 7th and 8th grade students are teaming up with the teachers. They are making up dances to songs from your favorite movies. We even have a surprise team with anonymous adults for the mystery guests!

Each team sets a time to practice for the competition and work together on a dance. Samantha from the 7th grade said "at practices our team thinks of an idea and then tells it to each other." Callie, also a 7th grader, said, "we have people record videos of ideas that they like, then we share with everyone." Mrs. Unger, 6th grade homeroom and science teacher said, "we watch a video from the movie we are using for our dance and we ask each other if they have any ideas."

For the show to keep people entertained and last longer, the entire Middle School will be singing three songs. One in the beginning, one in the middle of the show, and one at the end!

If you would like to find out what songs are being sung and what team will win, go to Bishop Hendricken High School on May 21, 2011!
