Check out the latest news around campus in the St. Peter School News Blog.
Since last Fall, the same group of 5th and 6th graders have been meeting every Thursday during Activity period for the Newspaper Club. Now is the time of year for students to select a new activity for the 2nd half of the school year. So some of our "reporters" will be moving onto other clubs, while some will stay with us to continue to sharpen their reporting skills! Either way, here we present Volume 2 of the 2010-2011 News Blog. Enjoy. |

Kids in Grades 1-4 went out and Christmas caroled around the neighborhood of Mayfair Road on Monday, December 13th. They sang "O' Night Divine", "We Wish you a Merry Christmas", "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas", "The Grinch" and "Mary's Boy Child". They spread Christmas cheer all around the neighborhood. Jack in 1st grade said he "loved Christmas caroling." Joseph R. in 1st grade said "it was fun". Ryan in 4th grade said "it was pretty fun." Afterwards, they came back to the cafeteria for hot chocolate and cookies and everyone agreed that was the best part.

The students were amazing and they would like to thank their music teacher,
Mrs. Nonetta Shatakhtsian
for all the hard work she put into the show. The students practiced during their music class once a week for many weeks, but in the end all the practice paid off.

Fun at Christmas Fun Day!
On Friday, December 17th, the Annual SPS Christmas Fun Day took place. It was an all day event with parents volunteering and kids having fun. When you went down to the cafeteria, you heard lots of talking about games and raffles and saw lots of kids walking around (it's not a good place to get lost). There was jewelry and crafts. The kids loved the games and the girls like the jewelry. Students could go between 10:00 and 2:45. All grades attended but not the whole time. They went down in shifts with their "buddies". It was also a free dress down day only if students wore red and green. The students had the same hot lunch choices as in the past; pizza or a meatball sub.Students ate their lunches in their rooms while the teachers ate a holiday lunch in the library. The Parent's Guild put on the fun day, made the lunches and watched the classrooms during lunch. return to top

The Stars Shine at St. Peter School
 | | Author, Mia Ray (center in bonnet), along with the cast of "A Christmas Carol" |
This Christmas, St. Peter students performed in two of the most enjoyable shows ever made to send Christmas spirit throughout the crowds, A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker. The Artists Exchange Black Box Theatre performed the 6th annual A Christmas Carol starring me, Mia Ray, for the 4th year. I have been acting since I was just about 6 years old.

The Kaczmarzyk sisters, my friends and fellow classmates at St. Peter School, also performed in a Christmas classic, The Nutcracker. Olivia and Sophia have been dancing with Festival Ballet for 7 years and this is Olivia's 7th Nutcracker! The youngest ballerina, Bella, has been dancing since she was 3 years old.
As students at Festival Ballet Providence, they performed in The Nutcracker at Providence Performing Arts Center. Their story took audiences on a trip to the land of sweets!
To be in a show is a great feeling because of the bond that you make with your cast members and the feeling that you get when you look out into the crowd and see all of the support that you have and how far you have gotten. From this experience, my friends and I know you should never stop believing in what you dream.

New Games At GameStop
Just in time for Christmas, GameStop has new video games. The most popular are called "Call of Duty: Black Ops", "Halo Reach" and "Donkey Kong Country Returns". They came out with these new games because they want the gamer to feel they're actually in the game.
If they like shooting games "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Halo Reach" are games they want to play. "Black Ops is awesome" said Chad Greenlaw, Grade 5. Jack DeJordy agreed and added that "Halo Reach is amazing."
If you like adventure games, "Donkey Kong Country Returns" is a game for you. "I think its pretty cool" said Jarod Sickinger.
