Making Wise Decisions: Finding God's Will I'm excited to lead us through a new teaching series entitled MAKING WISE DECISIONS: Finding God's Will. We all make decisions every day, but some decisions are really big ones and they can be quite confusing. At times we can feel like we are in a deep, dense fog. It is hard to see a step in front of us, let alone the big picture. We need to answer questions, such as:
• Who should I marry?
• What job should I take?
• Should we sell our house, buy this house, or relocate?
• Should I start a new career?
• Is this a wise investment?
• How do I handle this situation with my kids?
• What move should I make regarding my marriage?
• What should I do about what my doctor said?
• How are we going to address this financial need?
• What am I going to do with my life?
• I need to deal with this problem, but how?
One of the questions I'm frequently asked about is how to make wise decisions. How can I know God's will? What is the right thing to do in this situation? Does God care? Is He there? What decision will be best for me? What choice will most please God? Some decisions are very obvious and easy, but some are extremely confusing and overwhelming. These tough decisions are the ones I want us to address beginning April 15. Together we'll walk through God's Word looking for "fog lights" to help us find our way. Here are a few topics we will tackle:
• What does the Bible say about finding God's will?
• In what ways is God's will like a map or a compass?
• What are the road signs I should follow as I try to find my way?
• What is the difference between God's perfect will and permissive will?
• What are the key principles to making wise decisions?
• What does wisdom have to do with it, anyway?
James says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously" (James 1:5). And a wise teacher once said, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). The Bible has a lot to say about this topic, and I'm looking forward to sharing some of it with you.
