| OSTEOPOROSIS
Osteoporosis is the most common disorder of bone metabolism, affecting 1 in 3 women over the age of 50, and 1 in 8 men are affected by it.
10 million people over the age of 50 have osteoporosis, and over 33 million have low bone density mass. Osteoporosis related fractures costs the healthcare system $20 billion per year here in the U.S.
A very disheartening fact is that younger and younger people are showing signs of bone loss, years before menopause even sets in, due to our high sugar and carbohydrate diets. This is a major factor for the loss of minerals, especially calcium from our bodies.
"I am very excited that there is now a new and very inexpensive test (urine) that has been made available for our clients and patients. Ask for The Osteomark NTx "
How does this test work?
Bone is continuously remodeled through a process of bone resorption and bone formation. Osteoclasts degrade the bone during the resorption phase by excavating small pits, then osteoblasts (formation cells) replace the bone collagen removed by osteoclasts. Net bone loss may occur when resorption outpaces formation, often occuring in women after menopause when hormone production shifts or falls. Also, lack of exercise is a major contributor of bone loss.
The Ostemark NTx test measures bone resorption
Bone Matrix consits mainly of collagen and minerals. As collagen is needed to keep bone in place, this test measures collagen loss, or the rate at which you are losing bone. Elevated levels of this test indicate elevated bone resorption or bone loss.
I have been able to secure a very inexpensive price for this test for the month of December. You can purchase this Osteomark NTx test at our office. When the test results are received, I will review the results, diet, exercise and supplement recomendations with you. This will very with each individual case, depending on whether you are a new patient or a patient who is already on a program with us.
