New Thought, New Year, Better World...
Rev. Dr. Jaine Ryder
I'm so full of hope and wonder as we enter this New Year that I'm practically giddy with curiosity to see it unfold. There is so much 'change energy' in the world right now that it feels like a revolution is happening ...a spiritual revolution. Humanity is waking up to greater possibility and greater unity than ever before. This waking has not been gentle. The impact of war, global warming, corporate greed and religious zealotry has pushed us into spiritual activism. This is good. The 'change' revolution demands greater connection and cooperation among all peoples, all nations, all faiths. What each of us does as individuals and as countries impacts all of us. We are brothers and sisters in the human family. The time has come for greater love, respect, cooperation and understanding among us as we take better care of our world. People just like you and me in New Thought communities all over the world have been visioning and praying for this shift in consciousness for many years. Our numbers have grown and the shift seems to be arriving. Keep praying! Keep visioning! Remain the ever-present optimist in the midst of pessimism! Overcome fear with love! Know that this kinder, gentler spiritual revolution can correct for balance and change our world! We inaugurate our new President on January 20th. People all over Mother Earth feel a surge of hope, but he cannot do what we are asking of him alone. You and I and every other person willing to hold the higher, more optimistic thought, belief and faith in what is possible are urged to pour in prayers and gratitude now. Be a revolutionary! Share radically optimistic thoughts with friends, neighbors, co-workers, and strangers. Now is not the time to be silent. Now is the time to increase the power of positive, life-affirming thought in our world. Together, we will make the world a better place! I love you and I love our world. Happy New Year! Dr. Jaine |

Giving from the Heart Campaign - February |
|

Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have so generously supported CSL through your conscious giving. While the past year has been challenging financially, the steady flow of income from the giving campaign has truly been an anchor in helping us to pay our monthly expenses.
This year's giving campaign will feature talks on prosperity each week and a fabulous four week class called "Adventures in Faith" (see class section below). The class will be taught by Rev. Jaine and will help you explore the principles of prosperity and how you are actually using them in your life. Author (and CSL musician) Cathy Angell will be the guest speaker on February 8, and Rev. Colleen MacGilchrist will be the guest speaker on February 22.
We will kick off our Giving From the Heart Campaign with a theme dinner on Friday February 6th. Daniel Sansoni will be head chef in the kitchen... the menu is still being determined. If you are not currently a member of the pledge program, we invite you to please consider making a commitment to the financial health of CSL. We are fully supported by our members, and when CSL thrives, we all thrive!
In 2009, we are committed to offering more classes, special events, and opportunities for you to connect with others and grow in consciousness. Thank you for your support in helping CSL change lives and truly make the world a better place. | |

| Affinity Groups - New!! |
|
CSL is expanding the ways that our community can learn and grow by sponsoring member-led Affinity Groups.
Affinity Groups refer to groups of people coming together around a common interest. Groups can be held at the church office, off-site, or even online. They are limited to eight weeks and ideally involve six to ten people including both members and nonmembers of CSL-Bellingham. The principles of Science of Mind can be either a primary purpose for the group or simply background information. In fact, topics can range from book discussion groups to sustainable living to learning how to snowshoe on Mt. Baker!
The primary guidelines include:
- Groups are limited to 8 weeks (so traditional 12-step programs would not be appropriate);
- Groups are ideally limited to 6-10 people;
- The group is facilitated, not led;
- The convener may not hand out business cards, proselytize, or promote other workgroups, organizations, people, or events;
- Everyone is equal and nobody has an agenda except to explore something new or a delve into a topic more deeply;
- The primary purpose is to build community.
There is no charge to participate (unless there is a materials fee), but there will be an opportunity to make a donation to help offset CSL expenses and support future program development.

The following Affinity Groups are forming for January and February.
If you are interested in joining , please email the facilitator. The facilitator will query all interested parties about time and date availability.
