This Sunday
- Jesus: the Primary Priority -
Now I Lay Me Down To ... REST!
Hebrews
Pastor Bill Berger

Tree 2-28-10

Jesus: the Primary Priority is a book written to Urban Christ followers who are dealing with the trials, pains and sorrows of life and is the theme for our Hebrews series.

We have said that this book is written to 1st Century Urban people who are so weary with troubles and worries that they are on the verge of giving up. So, what do they need? It is obvious that the writer is telling them to get rest, (8x's in 11 verses).

It's not just crucial for them, we need this teaching because we live in a culture that is in need of rest more than any culture in history. What does this writing have to teach us about?: the importance of rest, the levels of rest, the ordeal of rest and the author of rest.

Sabbath rest is one of the ten commandments. We really don't have any idea what that means! A society that encourages over work is as brutalizing and dehumanizing as a society that encourages stealing, adultery and killing. It's in the same list! Yikes.

NEW! Service Team Highlight of the Week

Here at All Saints, we want the people of Seattle to know and understand the reality of an abundant life in Christ. This can only happen if we live out our faith in the same places where we live out our lives. The 1 + 1+ 1 formula is a way to bring together our faith and our personal lives to coexist as one. The formula includes 1 church gathering + 1 service team + 1 life group. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting each Service Team. We want to help you get connected and build community. Serving together is of the pieces in building a strong relationship in Christ.

Reading Team:
You will have the unique opportunity to let people know what's going on in our church by giving some quick announcements and be an important part of the message be reading the week's scripture verse. If you're looking for a place to serve with minimal time commitment, this is the place for you!

Baptisms

An outward expression of an inward reality...

On Palm Sunday, March 28th, All Saints is offering a time for those ready to take the next step of faith and outwardly express their love for Jesus Christ through being baptized. This act allows a person to let go of the idea they once held of how their life should be, and instead, lets Christ lead, direct, love, challenge and guide them from that point on. We will hold a special baptism ceremony for those being baptized after the gatherings. If you are interested in being baptized, please visit the concierge desk to sign up, or email us at life@believedoubtseek.org. There will be an informational meeting held on Sunday, March 21st, and the deadline for sign ups is Sunday, March 14th.

Baby Dedications

A time of dedication...

Also on Palm Sunday, March 28th, All Saints is offering a time of celebration and dedication of the new babies and toddlers we have been blessed with in our community. It is wonderful when parents recognize their children as gifts from God. In these moments, parents have the opportunity to publicly express their appreciation to God through acknowledging His direction and guidance for the child and parents. We would like to invite parents and family for a special time where we help parents make the commitment to guide and teach their children in the ways of Jesus Christ as they grow. If you are interested in dedicating your child, please visit the concierge desk to sign up, or email us at life@believedoubtseek.org. An informational meeting will be held the Sunday before, and the deadline to sign up is March 14th.
Just so you know...

If you were unable to pick up your Giving Statements for the year of 2009 during one of our previous gatherings, never fear! Those that were left behind were placed in the mail next week, so be looking for those in the mail. If you gave to All Saints Church anytime last year, you should be receiving a statement. All contributions to All Saints are tax deductible. Thank you for your generous giving.

Easter is less than a month away! All Saints will be hosting a special gathering on Good Friday, April 2nd at 7pm. On Easter Sunday, April 4th, we will host three gatherings at 9:30am, 11am and 12:30pm. Pleas join us in these celebrations and feel free to bring your friends.

Our winter/spring season of life groups is now underway but it's never too late to join a group! We believe gathering together in small groups to share, learn and deepen relationships is part of a full church experience, and we encourage you to join a group this winter. Updated 1+1+1 brochures are now available, but you can also check out the new life group listings online at believedoubtseek.org.

Inve$ting in All Saints

God has asked that we give at least 10% back to him from all that we get.  Whether you give at All Saints or elsewhere, the act of giving not only benefits those receiving your gift, but also blesses you in unexpected ways. All Saints depends entirely on giving from our members, attenders and supporters to do what we do.   If you have decided to give to All Saints we ask that you grab a commitment card (from beside the giving boxes, on the "giving statements" table in the Commons, or from the concierge desk) this Sunday, fill it out and slip it into one of the giving boxes.  Taking that first step of making the commitment sets everything in motion.  Ask God what he would like you to give and be prepared to be amazed!  Thank you in advance!
Lost & Found

LOST & found...

Here at All Saints, we maintain a small lost and found at the Concierge desk, located in the Commons. If you happen to be missing something and think you may have left it at the church, feel free to check with the Concierge on a Sunday, or send us an email at life@believedoubtseek.org. Any items left longer than 2 weeks will be donated to one of our partner ministries.

We need your help at All Saints!

Here are a couple of specific ways that you can serve at All Saints!

Both the Communion team and the Hospitality team are looking for new leaders. If you are interested in helping coordinate the teams and serving here at All Saints, feel free to email us at
hospitality@believedoubtseek.org, communion@believedoubtseek.org, or life@belivedoubtseek.org.

The Reading & Announcements Team is looking for a new leader and new team members to help with announcements and reading scripture during our weekly gatherings.  If you'd like to help, please contact the office at: life@believedoubtseek.org

The City Kids Team and the Nursery Team are looking for additional volunteers to help teach and assist in the classrooms and nursery on Sundays during both gatherings. If you would like to join one of these teams, please contact Tammara Beck at kids@believedoubtseek.org or Jenn Gifford at nursery@believedoubtseek.org

All Saints News is sent out regularly to the community to engage and inform people of all that takes place through All Saints Church.  This and previous updates are available on the All Saints website.
