Neighbor Campaign goes city wide...

For a while now we at All Saints been thinking about who our neighbors are and how Jesus calls us to love them.  This Saturday, February 6th people all over the city will be celebrating Seattle's 16th annual Neighbor Appreciation Day!  The very city we're trying to reach is inviting us to reach out and making it easier than ever!  We are invited to show appreciation for the people around us in the following ways:

  •  Use FREE Neighbor Appreciation Day greeting cards to acknowledge your neighbors.   The cards feature winning artwork from the annual Neighbor Appreciation Day Student Art Contest.  You can either send an e-card by going to www.seatttle.gov/neighborhoods/appday or pick up cards at one of the Neighborhood Service Centers, community centers, or libraries, as well as Seattle City Hall and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods office.
  • Attend one of the many community activities listed on the online calendar.  Visit www.seatttle.gov/neighborhoods/appday for a list of special Neighbor Appreciation Day events.

Those are just a couple of ideas, but don't stop there!  Use your creativity and gifts to make Jesus' love feel more real to your "neighbors" this Saturday!  For information, visit www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/appday.

Touching Heaven - Touching Earth: Clarifying our Task in a Broken World
Guest Speaker: Bill Prevette

Touching Heaven Earth 2-17-10

In a nutshell: We live in times of economic, political and social uncertainty. What does God expect of His people in times such as these? When we look at the history of the Church and mission, it seems the Church is always at it's best when it is challenged and up against "the odds." When the Church is close to circles of power and worldly influence, the Church can lose it's "salt." When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, it was like this: Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN. This message challenges us to consider what it means to live as "agents of transformation" in uncertain times.

NEW! Life Group Highlight of the Week

Here at All Saints, we want the people of Seattle to know and understand the reality of an abundant life in Christ. This can only happen if we live out our faith in the same places where we live out our lives. The 1 + 1+ 1 formula is a way to bring together our faith and our personal lives to coexist as one. The formula includes 1 church gathering + 1 service team + 1 life group. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting each Life Group. We want to help you get connected and build community. It's time to live a little life together.

NEW! Decalogue:
We will watch one film each week from an amazing series based on the Ten Commandments produced in the '80s by Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski. Each movie is 50 minutes long and will spark conversations of faith, fear, love, doubt and whatever else comes up. WARNING: this group is probably not for everyone, the films are foreign (and subtitled), and there are cultural references that may not be fully understood. But it you are willing to read your movie and can handle a difference pace - it is a powerful experience.
Who should sign up?: Anyone who wants to explore faith through a new lens.
Hosts: Ed Harowicz / 206-372-1297 /ed@tribalscream.com

Location: The Giles residence, 3100 West Commodore Way #109, Seattle 98199
Date & Time: Thursdays @ 7pm, starting February 4th

NEW! Wine Tasting 101:
Two great nights of wine! White Wine 101: A world of whites - everything from crisp to creamy - await. Sample, learn and come away snobby. Red Wine 101: Grab your goblet for a fun-filled night of indulgent red wine education. Try some teeth-stainers you'll never forget. Each night is $5/person, and wine is included.
Who should sign up?: Anyone 21 and older. Limit 12 people per night.
Host: Susan & Andy Tanabe / 206-930-8334 / susan@twinarmy.com
Location: Susandy Vineyards, 634 NW 80th St, Ballard 98117
Date & Time: White Wine: Saturday, January 23, 7-9pm; Red Wine: Saturday, February 20, 7-9pm

Just so you know...

Our winter/spring season of life groups is now underway but it's never too late to join a group! We believe gathering together in small groups to share, learn and deepen relationships is part of a full church experience, and we encourage you to join a group this winter. Updated 1+1+1 brochures are now available, but you can also check out the new life group listings online at believedoubtseek.org.

Any changes to the Sunday gatherings due to inclement weather will be posted on the website by 6:30am on Sunday morning.

Lost & Found

LOST & found...

Here at All Saints, we maintain a small lost and found at the Concierge desk, located in the Commons. If you happen to be missing something and think you may have left it at the church, feel free to check with the Concierge on a Sunday, or send us an email at life@believedoubtseek.org. Any items left longer than 2 weeks will be donated to one of our partner ministries.

We need your help at All Saints!

Here are a couple of specific ways that you can serve at All Saints!

Both the Communion team and the Hospitality team are looking for new leaders. If you are interested in helping coordinate the teams and serving here at All Saints, feel free to email us at
hospitality@believedoubtseek.org, communion@believedoubtseek.org, or life@belivedoubtseek.org.

The Reading & Announcements Team is looking for a new leader and new team members to help with announcements and reading scripture during our weekly gatherings.  If you'd like to help, please contact the office at: life@believedoubtseek.org

The City Kids Team and the Nursery Team are looking for additional volunteers to help teach and assist in the classrooms and nursery on Sundays during both gatherings. If you would like to join one of these teams, please contact Tammara Beck at kids@believedoubtseek.org or Jenn Gifford at nursery@believedoubtseek.org

Inve$ting in All Saints

God has asked that we give at least 10% back to him from all that we get.  Whether you give at All Saints or elsewhere, the act of giving not only benefits those receiving your gift, but also blesses you in unexpected ways. All Saints depends entirely on giving from our members, attenders and supporters to do what we do.   If you have decided to give to All Saints we ask that you grab a commitment card (from beside the giving boxes, on the "giving statements" table in the Commons, or from the concierge desk) this Sunday, fill it out and slip it into one of the giving boxes.  Taking that first step of making the commitment sets everything in motion.  Ask God what he would like you to give and be prepared to be amazed!  Thank you in advance!
All Saints News is sent out regularly to the community to engage and inform people of all that takes place through All Saints Church.  This and previous updates are available on the All Saints website.

If you have any ideas, submissions, or comments, please send them to life@believedoubtseek.org
