From the heart...
"What I've learned about the nature and economy of God..."
By Jolie Lansdowne, ASC Facilities

What is nature..? An unchangeable quality of something...as water is wet and fire is hot...

I can see back, being involved in many life groups over the years, even when it didn't seem to make practical sense in my head to spend the time, I listened, and spent it anyway. And then how 2 years ago, as my life changed drastically and I had to sell my house in a few short days with no resources to accomplish that, feeling very alone and concerned about my two boys - it was the friends I had made, those very same life group friends as well as others from our church that I had never met, who all generously gave their time and gifts to fix, clean, landscape and stage my home.  God had a plan...He knew what I would need before I did...He had gone before...

I know that when I started working with youth at our church 8 years ago, and had barely started reading the Bible the week before, I remember thinking how unequipped I was.  I was afraid, but I listened anyway. Thankfully God does not call the equipped necessarily but rather meets us in those moments when we lean on him. Today those "kids" are now grown up and some of my very closest and cherished friends who have in turn loved and guided my own children in very vital and needed ways.  Again... He had gone before...

I know that when I moved to Ballard as a single Mom two years ago, and I was so busy trying to keep it all together, it didn't seem to make sense to follow the urging of the Holy Spirit and give the time to hosting a women's group every Thursday night.  Two years later I can see it was this very fellowship by God's design, that keeping it all together was no longer something I had to "keep".  Again... He had gone before. He knew what I would need long before I needed it, and beautifully woven into my attempts at reaching others I was by a greater measure comforted and lifted up.

I know that every time I move in the direction of following the Holy Spirit's leading, every time I build with one of Gods bricks...for His kingdom, separate of my understanding, of my resources, prayers are answered that I wouldn't have thought to pray and all I have is all I need. This is not because of anything that might be decent or deserving in me, but because it is His nature. His nature of goodness and provision and grace can be trusted.

As we move through this month listening to truth about stewardship... my words would be of encouragement... to trust a nature that is unchanging, to move in doubt, to engage in listening to the still small voice.  For each one of us this is my prayer...Let us be Bold in our walk...for He has gone before...

A Giving Journey | Ecclesiastes 5:10

This is very straight forward. We are talking about money and what it means to be a giver.

NEW! Service Team Highlight of the Week

Here at All Saints, we want the people of Seattle to know and understand the reality of an abundant life in Christ. This can only happen if we live out our faith in the same places where we live out our lives. The 1 + 1+ 1 formula is a way to bring together our faith and our personal lives to coexist as one. The formula includes 1 church gathering + 1 service team + 1 life group. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting each service team. We want to let you know more about the awesome opportunities to get involved here at All Saints.

City Kids:
Help teach or assist in our preschool or elementary classes to help kids engage in their lessons and experience God's love each Sunday.
Lead: Tammara Beck / kids@believedoubtseek.org

Just so you know...

Our winter season of life groups begins on January 31st, and sign-ups start next week! We believe gathering together in small groups to share, learn and deepen relationships is part of a full church experience, and we encourage you to join a group this winter. Look for the new 1+1+1 brochure available next week, or check out the new life group listings online at believedoubtseek.org.

Any changes to the Sunday gatherings due to inclement weather will be posted on the website by 6:30am on Sunday morning.

A new year (with some adjustments)

The start of a new year always brings about the opportunity to look at things from a fresh perspective.  It is a chance to both reflect on the past, while looking with eager anticipation at what lies before us.

One of the things that has defined All Saints Church, during our Sunday morning experience, is the deliberate break that we take during the gathering.  This time is intentional as it primarily serves to foster a sense of community in a welcoming and hospitable environment for those new or visiting, as well as those serving to strengthen existing ties between people.  The break is also a chance to grab a cup of coffee, along with a pastry and/or some other type of light breakfast food.

As much as having something to eat has supported the intent of the break time, given budgetary considerations as we look to this upcoming year, we have decided to adjust the type of food service and limit it to just be beverages only (coffee, tea, etc) at this time.  This change is now in place and shall continue until a time resources will allow us the opportunity to once again offer food with the beverages.  This decision comes after much thought coupled with the desire to be the best stewards of what time, talents, and treasures God has given us.

Let us hold on to the fact that this adjustment should not force us to limit the great atmosphere that we already experience, and that our Sunday mornings have been, and shall continue to be just one of the wonderful things that makes our community demonstrate the love of Jesus to Seattle and the world.

Grace to you and I'll see you Sunday.

Lost & Found

LOST & found...

Here at All Saints, we maintain a small lost and found at the Concierge desk, located in the commons. If you happen to be missing something and think you may have left it at the church, feel free to check with the Concierge on a Sunday, or send us an email at life@believedoubtseek.org. Any items left longer than 2 weeks will be donated to one of our partner ministries.

We need your help at All Saints!

Here are a couple of specific ways that you can serve at All Saints!

Both the Communion team and the Hospitality team are looking for new leaders. If you are interested in helping coordinate the teams and serving here at All Saints, feel free to email us at
hospitality@believedoubtseek.org, communion@believedoubtseek.org, or life@belivedoubtseek.org.

The Reading & Announcements Team is looking for a new leader and new team members to help with announcements and reading scripture during our weekly gatherings.  If you'd like to help, please contact the office at: life@believedoubtseek.org

The City Kids Team and the Nursery Team are looking for additional volunteers to help teach and assist in the classrooms and nursery on Sundays during both gatherings.
