From Children's Ministries
"Bubbles & Teachers" by Sharlena Dressler, Children's Ministries Coordinator
A couple of days ago I had a conversation about bubbles with
one of the little girls I nanny. We thought of how sweet it would be if
we could blow bubbles into different shapes, like hearts and diamonds and
flowers. Lela's green eyes grew as wide as saucers when she looked at me and said,
"What would be really cool is if we could make bubbles in the shape
of ponies and then ride the ponies!"
Another time, while grabbing
lunch out of the fridge, Lela told me how the coldness in the refrigerator
comes from the North Pole, "because it makes sense that way."
I absolutely love
the imagination of a child. They are so vibrant: not yet harnessed by all
of the practicalities and limitations we acquire as we learn the ins and
outs of this world. And though they may go unnoticed on a Sunday morning, here
at All Saints we are simply bursting at the seams with lively, imaginative,
little ones of all ages! They are constantly moving and learning, seeking to
understand, asking questions and working things out in their curious minds. It
takes a lot of wisdom and energy to keep up with kids - which is why I would
like to give a shout-out to a very talented and dedicated, yet little-noticed,
service team: our Sunday school teachers!
There is a core
group of about fifteen men and women who give numerous hours of their lives to
the kids at All Saints. They pray for the kids and prepare each week, to create an atmosphere
where our kids not only learn about God's love for them, but also about the
importance of taking that love and lavishing it on the world around them. This is no small deal.
Whether you have kids at All Saints or not, I encourage you to take the time to
meet our teachers. Give them heartfelt thanks. Pray for them. They are so
wonderful, and so deserving!

Service Teams Highlight of the Week
Here at All Saints, we want the people of
Seattle to know and understand the reality of an abundant life in
Christ. This can only happen if we live out our faith in the same
places where we live out our lives. The 1 + 1+ 1 forumla is a way to
bring together our faith and our personal lives to coexist as one. The
formula includes 1 church gathering + 1 service team + 1 life group. In
the coming weeks, we will be highlighting each service group. We want
to let you know more about the awesome opportunities to serve the
people of All Saints and the people of Seattle.

Just so you know...
Children's Ministries Work Day:
There
will be a work day for the kids area downstairs on August 29th at 10am.
We have big plans to transform the kids area and classrooms downstairs,
to make it more kid-friendly. If you are interested in volunteering
with this transformation, please email Sharlena Dressler at kids@believedoubtseek.org
Summer Beach Party and Baptisms: On August 30th we invite you to head to Golden Gardens Beach after our 11am Sunday gathering for our annual Beach Party and Baptisms! As we witnessed in the past at All Saints, baptism is a very meaningful and powerful experience of leaving your old self behind, accepting Jesus' grace and starting again as a committed follower of Christ. We'll be baptizing people in the Puget Sound and then enjoying the afternoon together at the beach. If you would like someone to contact you about being baptized or you are interested in helping out please sign up at the concierge desk or send us an email to life@believedoubtseek.org
Central America Missions Trip: All Saints is planning an international service trip this fall to Central America. The team has been assembled and costs have been determined to be $1100 per person. We will keep you posted as plans develop. If you are interested in assisting the team financially, send us an email to life@believedoubtseek.org
August Guest Speakers: This month, we will be putting our James series on hold, and we will be having several guest speakers come through the church to speak on various topics. Last week Earl Creps, a pastor from Berkley, CA came to speak. This week All Saints' Craig Mathison will be speaking on "Jesus, Diversity & Seattle." This is one you won't want to miss. Also look for Joe Macias and Joel Domingo as the month progresses.

We need your help at All Saints!
Here are a couple of specific ways that you can serve at All Saints!
The Custodial Team is looking for new team members to help with some light cleaning duties after the Sunday gatherings once or twice a month. The team also helps with our quarterly deep cleans and occasional event set up/clean up. If you'd like to help, please contact April Mower at: custodial@believedoubtseek.org The Children's Ministries Team and the Nursery Team are looking for additional volunteers to help teach and assist in the classrooms and nursery on Sundays during both gatherings. If you would like to join one of these teams, please
contact Sharlena Dressler at kids@believedoubtseek.org or Jenn Gifford at nursery@believedoubtseek.org
Fall is around the corner and that means new Life Groups. If you are interested in leading a life group, or would like to learn more about what that looks like, contact Stacy Baas at lifegroups@believedoubtseek.org
