Prayer Vlog

This Sunday...
The Main Thing in Suffering...
James 1: 5-8

rough roadWe continue in James and the subject of suffering. It is very interesting to learn that the passage we are looking at is a continuation in the topic of suffering.

Many have taken this passage and though it was about faith, wisdom and prayer. The truth is, the suffering topic continues until v.12 where James gives a summary about it.

In dealing with suffering what we need more than anything is wisdom. To a great degree the problem with suffering for us is that we tend to look at the even itself, that really isn't the whole issue. The issue here is what we believe about what it is we are being troubled with. In other words, we have certain beliefs about suffering and trouble and when we are faced with it, our perspective kicks in and that determines our actions; perspective is what we think we deserve or don't deserve. The main thing is facing it with peace and growing from it.

Service Team Highlight of the Week

Here at All Saints, we want the people of Seattle to know and understand the reality of an abundant life in Christ. This can only happen if we live out our faith in the same places where we live out our lives. The 1 + 1+ 1 forumla is a way to bring together our faith and our personal lives to coexist as one. The formula includes 1 church gathering + 1 service team + 1 life group. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting each service group. We want to let you know more about the awesome opportunities to serve the people of All Saints and the people of Seattle.

At All Saints - Concierge:
Work at the concierge desk during gatherings to help get people acquainted with all the activities, life groups and happenings at All Saints. Contact Matt Jones at concierge@believedoubtseek.org

In Seattle - Sacred Heart Shelter:
Enjoy spending 1-2 hours a week serving families in need by helping to prepare meals, playing with children of volunteering in the office. Or you can work with the coordinators to find other fun and helpful ways to share your passions and skills with the women and fmialies at the shelter. Contact Melissa Daniels at melissa@believedoubtseek.org.

Just so you know...

New Books!
We just received a new shipment of books that are now available in the Life Group lounge. The books are for sale, and there are titles for everyone. Check out the shelf, and see if there is anything that catches your eye. There is a price list on the shelf and books can be purchased at the concierge desk.

Summer Beach Party and Baptisms
:
On August 30th we invite you to head to Golden Gardens Beach after our Sunday gatherings for our annual Beach Party and Baptisms!  As we wtinessed in the past at All Saints, baptism is a very meaningful and powerful experience of leaving your old self behind, accepting Jesus' grace and starting again as a committed follower of Christ.  We'll be baptizing people in the Puget Sound and then enjoying the afternoon together at the beach.  If you would like someone to contact you about being baptized or you are interested in helping out please sign up at the concierge desk or send us an email to life@believedoubtseek.org

Fall Missions Trip:
All Saints is planning an international service trip this fall to Central America. If you are interested in going on the trip, look for the card insert in your handout this Sunday during the gathering. Interest cards will be passed out through the end of July, so if you're interested let us know soon! The plan is to serve a community in Central America for one week in either October or November. The trip would cost roughly $1000 per person. If you are interested and would like to learn more, send us an email at
life@believedoubtseek.org
