What's Happenin' at OWH?
It's Oatin' time on the farm, and I'm not talking Quaker...
We are now on our second harvest of Oats this summer, and we harvest just as the tops are going in to milk. This means when you squeeze the Oat head it will ooze a white milky solution, which is the best part of the Oat plant. The elk and deer know this. They have made there presence known in Field 2 where the Oats should be close to milky stage, but instead have turned into a daily treat for our wild friends.
Irrigation is a full time job and then some. It runs at least 16 hours a day. But, who's going to complain about playing in the sprinklers on a hot day, after all the rainy days at the beginning of the summer? Not me. That's for sure.
Our fresh Calendula flowers are being harvested bi-weekly and the large fields aren't even flowering yet. Look out dryers - there will be plenty of work for you!

Creativity is the spice of a healthy life!
Coloring a picture together is a great way to spend some creative time with your child. Not only does coloring help a young child with early motor skills but it also develops coordination and hand strength. Older children express their ideas through color choices, learn to define borders and boundaries and can learn lessons from illustrations. And mom, when was the last time you just got to be a kid and color!? If you would like to view all of our different coloring pages and find some great information for kids on various herbal plants, please visit the Kids 'N Moms section on owhfarm.com.
