What's Happenin' at OWH?
The Astragalus has sprouted. It's big enough to be moved out of the greenhouses and onto tables exposed to the elements. The open greenhouse space has been taken by both Ashwagandha and Feverfew flats, and the warmth of the air inside the greenhouses brings life from the soil, as all the seeds have begun to grow.
On the farm, the Artichoke plants are alive and well, growing in size before my eyes. Their roots take hold and stretch into the soil, as their leaves reach towards the sky. The newly planted Ginkgo trees are adapting well and continue to sprout many new leaves. The rain has saved us from having to drag the irrigation around to water them; one plus for the rain.
The bees are out every chance they get dashing from one flower to the next, trying to miss the raindrops. The bee keeper has been busy tending to the hives making sure they are ready for the onset of the many flowers yet to bloom.
In the distance is the hum of the tractor as it works the soil. It's a wonderful sound, and one which I've grown quite fond of. Can you hear it?

The Top 5 for a Better Night's Sleep
Have you ever been really tired and ready to go to bed, but once you're under those nice, warm covers, your mind decides to go into overdrive-racing from topic to topic, thinking about all the things you did that day, or have to do tomorrow?
Well, we have. And we're not alone. More than 67 million Americans also have trouble falling to sleep at night. So that's one in three. You may say, "Wow, that's me!"
We've always said that Mother Nature provides us with everything we need -- including a good night's sleep.
Simple Solutions for a Better Night's Sleep:
- Exercise regularly to reduce stress hormones. But do not exercise shortly before bed (within two hours of bed time).
- Avoid heavy meals before bedtime, choosing a light snack instead.
- Use earplugs, window blinds, heavy curtains, or an eye mask to help keep noise and light to a minimum.
- Keep your bedroom well ventilated, and at a comfortable temperature.
- Reduce intake of caffeine during the day, avoiding completely four to six hours before bedtime.

Remedies and Recipes
Herbal Doggie Brownies
These chocolate-free brownies are a nice treat, and also provide herbal goodness to nourish and balance your dog. We baked a couple of test batches and gave them to our canine samplers, and most of the dogs ate them very enthusiastically!
Dandy Liver-Loving Coffee This recipe is essentially a cocktail of coffee and dandelion. It is inspired by the chicory-infused coffee that is often consumed in many cultures, and the taste reminds me of the coffee that is popular in New Orleans. This makes sense because Dandelion contains bitter chemicals called sesquiterpenes- which are very similar to those found in chicory. More Details>
Natural Aftershave
Topical use of natural herb compounds can be effective in maintaining skin health and the effects from shaving. The nice thing about making your own cosmetics is that you can tailor the scent and properties by using different herbs. More Details>
