Winter on the Farm 2011
It's wintertime and the Farm is asleep. The Biodynamic® horns planted in the fall are absorbing all the cosmic energy and preparing for the awakening of spring.

The horses are happy! Winter allows them the enjoyment and freedom to wander all about the farm. Come spring they will no longer be allowed in the growing areas but confined in the pasture.

The eternal farm process of equipment repair is still underway.Root Crops 2011

A lone coyote has been seen sitting in the middle of the Echinacea Purpurea field. Wonder if it's helping him fight a cold?

And that's about it for Farm life right now!

Remedies & Recipes Using Bulk Herbs
All of our recipes, remedies and gift ideas are tried and tested by Jo Roberts, our Research Director.  Oregon's Wild Harvest offers a great variety of bulk herbs in ¼ lb and 1lb bags.

Poultices

Organic Comfrey rootA poultice is a topical remedy where the herb is applied directly to the body. The skin is the largest organ of the body and has the ability to absorb the medicinal benefits of the substance almost immediately. Poultices are mostly used to support the body's natural defenses against bruising, sores and abrasions.

Herbal Chest Rub

Organic Peppermint leafInstead of using a petroleum-based product such as Vicks vapo-rub, try this simple salve recipe for a cheap and natural alternative. With the surge in skin-based medicines such as the birth-control patch, it has become increasingly obvious how much the skin actually absorbs. What we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in our bodies!
