The Gardner Cultural Council is currently accepting standard grant applications and field trip grant applications for projects to be completed in 2013. The postmark deadline for applications is Oct. 15, 2012. More info & application forms

Linq in Under the Radar Magazine

Congratulations to Linq!
The singer-songwriter is in Under the Radar, a glossy American magazine with a readership of more than 185,000 that's released four times a year and features opinion and commentary on the Indie Music scene as well as reviews on books, DVDs and albums. Every four years they put together a special Protest Issue featuring politically-themed articles and photos of bands holding self-made protest signs. It has become their most popular issue. The acoustic version of "Don't You Understand" from Linq's 2011 release, CAUGHT IN THE ACT ACOUSTIC, is included on the digital sampler of this year's Protest Issue (#42), available at newsstands and online until the end of October.

Painting with Acrylics on Different Surfaces
Lori MacDonald is offering her last "Step-by-Step" acrylic painting class for this year on Weds., Sept. 5, 12, 19, and 26. Each session will run from 6-8:30 pm. Using brushes and some painting knives, this class will focus on painting on different surfaces: a rough wood plank, an ultra-smooth painting panel, Pastelbord, and a ceramic tile. Color Chart Workshop Where will you find so many colors with only six tubes of paint (plus white)? Make a color chart using the minimal split-primary color palette Lori uses in her work. The class will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 am-noon. The cost is $10 (plus $2 if you do not have your own paints).

HEY DAY Event, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, The event is co-sponsored by the Mass Audubon, the Princeton Arts Society and the Princeton Agricultural Commission. This year's event will have more of everything including food, music, family activities. Depending on weather, attendance normally ranges between 500 and 1,000 people! Entry forms must be received by Sept. 15. Entries received after the deadline may be accepted based on space. Call for ArtistsNote: As a convenience for GALA members who are unable to deliver to or pick up work from Princeton, you may make special arrangements to drop off entries at Surroundings Gallery in Gardner on Oct. 2 or 3 and pick up work at Surroundings Gallery the week of Oct. 8. The request for this service should be noted on the entry form.

Watercolor Landscape Workshop with Robert O'Brien

Salvation Army, 15 Roxbury Plaza, Keene, NH
Students will learn to paint landscape in this one-day intensive workshop. The class is open to all abilities with drawing experience recommended. This course will focus on watercolor techniques such as glazing, wet on wet and dry-brush technique. Design, composition, and value will be discussed throughout the duration of the workshop. The instructor will demonstrate and provide hands on guidance to each student. A critique and class discussion will be held at the end of the session. Registration form with more info.
