GALA was organized to promote the arts as an essential component of a healthy community. We believe that artistic expression is a community's greatest legacy for future generations. GALA will increase awareness and appreciation of the arts by way of exhibits, instruction, theater productions, musical programs and provision of scholarships to students in local schools.

Thanks to all those who attended the GALA
Annual Member Meeting held on June 25
!

Many creative ideas were shared by members who attended GALA's annual meeting. Our guest speaker, Jerry Beck, Director of Marketing & Community Engagement at the Fitchburg Art Museum, spoke to the crowd about the importance of art in revitalizing our community. His speech and examples of community art projects were inspiring and uplifting, to say the least. From raising awareness in the community about GALA, to artist-led classes and talks, the enthusiasm for moving our organization forward was tremendous. Read summaries of some of the main topics including: advertising; judging vs. juried shows; art center; growing & learning as an artist; and communication.

If you were unable to attend but would like to add your comments or suggestions, be a town representative, help make the art center a reality, or volunteer for the numerous tasks available, please contact GALA at feedback@galagardner.org or call 978-630-2340.

Thanks to Ashley Bird for writing this article on the meeting.
