Digital photography has offered photographers a tremendous degree
of control in creating and printing color images. These benefits are also
available to those who are interested in creating dynamic black and white
photographs.
In this workshop you will learn why you should photograph in color with your
digital camera in order to create the best black and white images. At the
Sharon Arts Center state of the art digital imaging lab, you will learn how to
use PhotoShop techniques to get the most out of your black and white
images. Participants are encouraged to bring their own photographs to
work on during the workshop. The workshop will include lecture,
demonstration and "hands-on" work.

Acrylic Painting Classes in May
Lori MacDonald will be offering an Introduction to
Acrylics class in four sessions on Monday evenings in May at The Boulder Art Gallery in Fitchburg. The classes will
run from 6:30 to 9 pm on May 3, 10, 17, and 24. The class is ideal for beginners and for the
seasoned artist wishing to try a new medium. The class will focus on the
use of brushes and acrylic mediums, a variety of painting grounds, color mixing
with a minimal palette, and will include painting a landscape from a
photograph. The cost for the 4-week class is $60 plus materials.With the photo above as a
reference, learn to paint this scene on a canvas panel in the 4th lesson of
Lori's Intro to Acrylics class. (Click

Painting with Pencils: Colored Pencil Still Life
Saturday, March 27, 10 am - 4 pm
This workshop is designed for those with some drawing experience. Working from a still life setup, you will make a quick line drawing. Then the real fun begins! Mix and layer color to create a colored pencil "painting" with the illusion of depth and form. Using colored pencils and a sanded board designed for pastel artists, you will experience the painterly possibilities of this exciting medium. The instructor will supply colored pencils, but you are encouraged to bring any pencils you already have. This workshop is especially designed for colored pencil artists who normally work with photos and for those new to the medium.
