Flowers in Colored Pencil
Saturday, July 25 10 am - 4 pm
Take your colored pencils to the next level. Flowers will be your subjects as you draw from a simple still-life arrangement of a few blossoms. Students may work from an arrangement provided by the instructor, or bring in their own flowers from their gardens. We will start with a brief discussion of composition and lighting for dramatic effect. This workshop will take you beyond the reference photograph to a connection with your subject through direct observation.
Adventures in Colored Pencil6 weeks (July 28-September 1) Session 1: Tuesdays, 10 am -1 pm Session 2: Tuesdays, 6 - 9 pm
In this class we will explore techniques for creating colored pencil paintings with depth and vibrance. Learn to build bold and exciting color using a gradual layering technique. Various techniques, papers, and boards will be discussed. Students will begin by working from photographs and line drawings provided by the instructor. In the later weeks of the class we will have the opportunity to work from a still-life setup, or outside (weather permitting) to work from nature. We will also discuss options for protecting and presenting your finished work based on the chosen working surface. Join us for six weeks of in-depth colored pencil exploration!
