GALA was organized to promote the arts as an essential component of a healthy community. We believe that artistic expression is a community's greatest legacy for future generations. GALA will increase awareness and appreciation of the arts by way of exhibits, instruction, theater productions, musical programs and provision of scholarships to students in local schools.

Greetings!
Another great GALA art show has come and gone!

The "house was packed" during the Friday night reception and a good time was had by all. An estimated 200 people attended the show over the course of the weekend.

We want to thank all of the wonderful people who made the show possible (see list).

A special thanks goes to Sally Sargent for the fantastic job she did obtaining business donations for the show and raffle! Please patronize the businesses that donated and tell them that you appreciate their generous support of the arts (see list).

And of course, we want to express our gratitude to the artists and musicians who shared their marvelous artwork and talent with us!

Congratulations to the People's Choice Award winners:
1st place: Gary Ruuska for "Cattail Dance"
2nd place: Lisa Regopoulos for "Fields of Flavor"
3rd place: Michael Pellegrini for "Princeton Ice"

Greater Gardner CDC and Heywood Hospital
Grow-Maintain-Change-Close?

GALA member, Sally Sargent has been coordinating the program which puts on rotating exhibits at the Greater Gardner CDC and the Wound Care Center at Heywood Hospital. Another department at Heywood Hospital has indicated an interest in providing another venue for artists. We need to evaluate this program to determine whether we should expand, maintain, change, or close it. However, in order to expand or maintain the program, additional volunteer help will be needed. If you have recommendations or comments or are interested in becoming involved in the program, please contact Sally (978-939-5454) or Vicki (978-630-2340) or email [email protected].
