GALA LogoGALA Newsletter

GALA was organized to promote the arts as an essential component
of a healthy community. We believe that artistic expression is a
community's greatest legacy for future generations. GALA will increase
awareness and appreciation of the arts by way of exhibits,
instruction, theater productions, musical programs and provision of
scholarships to students in local schools.

Gardner Ale House Call for Artists
The Gardner Ale House is looking for an artist for a solo show or 2 to 3 artists for a group exhibit. The venue accommodates up to approximately 26 pieces and the shows run for 8 weeks.

Please contact Janet Reed at 978-249-6812.
Heywood Hospital Exhibit Venue
Heywood Hospital has opened a new Wound Care Center. Program Director, Edgar Rodriguez states that not only is the new center open for healing wounds and changing lives in our community, but the center has also collaborated with several art associations in the area and invited artists to show their work in the Center's reception area.

They installed a new hanging system for the artists to display their work, which will be on a rotating basis of about two months for each artist or group exhibit.

Artist Joe Gemborys is now displaying his oil paintings until Feb. 19th. Anyone interested in purchasing his work may contact Sally Sargent at 978-939-5454.

The Gardner Area League of Artists (GALA) and Greater Gardner Artists Association (GGAA) were the first to be contacted, but any group or individual artist in the community is welcome to contact Sally Sargent at 978-939-5454 to schedule a showing.

The art community thanks the hospital for giving them this wonderful opportunity to display and sell their work. In the last year or so, Gardner area businesses have really opened their doors to local artists and it is a win/win situation for both. Local artists are very excited to have their work shown in area businesses such as White Dog Printing, Gardner Ale House, Jumpin' Juice & Java and long time supporters; the Community Development Center, the Mayor's office and the Chamber of Commerce.
Member Benefit-GALA Web Site
Be sure to take full advantage of one of your most valuable membership benefits...the GALA web site!

The web site is a good way to promote your artwork or event as it draws quite a few visitors. Our current statistics show an average of 10 separate visitors per day. Of those 10, an average of 9 are new visitors and 1 is a returning visitor. The average page views per day is 18.

Publicize an upcoming show, event or workshop by emailing the information to [email protected]

Add your info to the Artists Directory by submitting the form.

Become a Featured Artist. Your artwork and artists statement will be displayed on the GALA web site homepage for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. After that time, your info is moved to the Featured Artists page where it remains for as long as you are a GALA member or until you ask that it be removed. A request to be a Featured Artist will be considered by the Board of Directors when you submit 6 to 8 images of your work and an artists statement to [email protected].
