GALA LogoGALA Newsletter

GALA was organized to promote the arts as an essential component
of a healthy community. We believe that artistic expression is a
community's greatest legacy for future generations. GALA will increase
awareness and appreciation of the arts by way of exhibits,
instruction, theater productions, musical programs and provision of
scholarships to students in local schools.

Lori was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954. She lived in rural parts of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan until the family moved to Stow, Massachusetts in the summer of 1963. She has lived in the central Massachusetts area for the past 25 years.

Lori MacDonald is a member of the Greater Gardner Artist Association, the Gardner Area League of Artists, and the Leominster Art Association. Her paintings have received several awards in the associations' exhibits. Lori's recent work has been a part of the Fitchburg Art Museum's Juried Regional Exhibition; a 3rd Place Award recipient in the Landscape Show at the Post Road Art Center in Marlborough, MA; her recent work has been on display in the Mayor's office in Gardner, in the Levi Heywood Library; and also in the storefront of White Dog Printing in Gardner. She has two paintings in the Galleria Vivace in Stafford Springs, Connecticut.

Over the past three and a half decades Lori has enjoyed painting in many settings and has been hired and commissioned by both corporate and private collectors. In addition to creating traditional paintings she also enjoys creating wall murals, painting on furniture, and on ... "just about anything".

She has taught acrylic painting to beginners using a step-by-step method. Her classes have been held in the past at the Ashburnham Senior Center, Hubbardston Elderly Housing, for many years at the former Hubbardston Country Crafts, in her church in Westminster, and also in private homes. Lori will be offering acrylic painting instruction once again, beginning in January. Please email her for more information.

Lori has two grown sons, and a daughter; two wonderful daughters-in-law, and two precious granddaughters. She is married to Bob MacDonald, a recently retired Civil Engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers. Lori and her husband live in Gardner, Massachusetts.

Lori may be contacted by email:  [email protected]  or by calling 978-407-9333.
