CrossFit is Coming: January 3rd, 2011
What is CrossFit? CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. The program is designed to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. Well, Holiday Season is almost over. January 1st arrives on Saturday. Most of us make some sort of New Year's Resolution either to lose weight, become fit, quit smoking or drinking or fill in the blank, right?
Then, most of us promptly quit the behavior change sometime in February. Why is that? Read more about Inspiration and Motivation below and then consider how best to set your intention for change.

Resolve to Commit to Inspiration & Motivation When Making Your New Year's Resolution

Inspiration is short-lived. It's typically emulating other people and it'll push us for a week or two. But inspiration begins to extinguish quite quickly. And as Henry Ford once said, after that, it's 90 percent hard work. Inspiration may get us started, but it never keeps us going and that's were motivation works. And motivation doesn't come in a bottle. Motivation is, scientifically speaking, a series of small behaviors. And here's some ways to enhance the motivation: Track your progress by recording or charting the behavior in question. Reward your successes, reinforce yourself for each step with a healthy treat or a compliment, perhaps even create a reward contract with a loved one. And you also need to arrange your environment to help, rather than hinder you - limit exposure to any high-risk situations, create reminders. So we don't need to think of motivation as something we have. Motivations are specific behaviors we build into our day.

Join us for a Run!

Did you know we host Sunday Runs? Yep - This Group Run is our version of Spring Half-Marathon Training. We are slowly increasing our mileage from 7 miles to 11 miles now through April. The 2nd Sunday is our designated Run Clinic. Also at 9:30, the topics vary from Nutrition , Injury Prevention, Training Schedules and much more. Run Club is FREE and open to the public. Run Clinics are $20 per worksop.
