Now Two Solutions
Is this shaping up to be a Battle of the Brands?
On the one hand (or is it foot?) we have Al Gallegos, the inventor of Z-CoiL footwear and the buoyant spirit behind the company's Pain Relief mission. He's shown here holding his creation, a Z-CoiL® shoe, which features his patented spring-suspension system combined with built-in orthotic support: arguably the most effective, non-invasive solution there is for overcoming foot, leg and back pain.
On the other, we have his son, Andres, the company's President/CEO. In his hand is a revolutionary new type of pain-relief shoe making its world debut this month: the Bio-Trek®.
Andres has never suffered from the same pain issues as his Dad, but he's always stood firmly behind the same pain relief mission, and is determined to stay healthy and active for many years to come.
So he came up with his own ergonomic footwear solution: a unique "hybrid" shoe that blends superior cushioning with rigid support, much in the same way that a Z-CoiL shoe does ... but which he can also wear mountain biking!
Watch for more news about the new Bio-Trek line, with a variety of styles for both men and women, COMING SOON!
Belly Fat? Hit the Treadmill, Not the Weights
New research finds that your best bet for trimming belly fat is vigorous aerobic activity, such as jogging or brisk walking (in Z-CoiL shoes, naturally), rather than lifting weights.
''If you are overweight or mildly obese and want to lose fat -- belly fat, visceral fat, liver fat -- vigorous aerobic training was better than resistance training," said researcher Cris Slentz, an exercise physiologist at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Participants in the eight-month study, published last month in the American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology and Metabolism, were divided into three groups. One group walked on a treadmill on an incline, another group lifted weights, and a third group did both workouts.
It seems the aerobic training group was the most successful in reducing their visceral fat, and the reason behind that is simple: intense aerobic training burns more calories.
A cautionary note: The focus on the study was on visceral fat located deep within the body around the stomach, as opposed to subcutaneous fat, which lies directly under the skin. Although any kind of extra padding around your waistline is considered unhealthy, researchers said, too much subcutaneous fat is, in fact, much more dangerous.
I was in my first earthquake the other day (the 5.9 that shook the East Coast). When the earthquake started, I was inside my office building on the second floor. People had to point out that the floor was shaking because I didn't notice it. Why, you ask? I was wearing my Z-CoiL shoes, and I guess they absorbed the shocks from the tremors. I had to lean forward on the ball of my feet before I felt them. Pretty amazing -- Z-CoiL shoes really do absorb shock!!!
Well, take it from someone with a bad back and bad feet ... your shoes make getting around totally possible for me. Thank you so much. But PLEASE ...bring a store to Delaware.
