 Dear Friends,
It is a new season here in San Pancho and we are already crazy busy in our work with the children and families of San Pancho.
This is an exciting time for us and also a challenging one. We are thrilled to (almost) introduce our new website! For the first time we will be able to share all of the hard work behind the scenes and also to help our donors understand that their generosity is making real differences here in San Pancho.
We are challenged now by the tighter economy but are using the moment to emphasize sustainability in all of our projects. The Trabajarte women's cooperative has now become completely sustainable and will soon be expanding distributon of their handmade recycled goods into other communities, the Recycling program is showing signs of sustainability and the children's art program is well on its way.
We are also working hard on finding an alternative location. We must move this year, possibly as soon as January. We have received an amazing grant challenge from the Three Swallows Foundation that would ensure us a place in the Bodegas and I am excited to share the opportunity! Having a permanent, safe space to continue and expand the activities of entreAmigos is a dream of ours and a gift to the children of San Pancho.
There are many, many great events this month. We look forward to sharing this Holiday season with all of you!

entreAmigos (almost) has a new website!!
We were going to introduce our new website in this newsletter but we decided to let the suspense build (oh, and to work on a few last minute changes). Soon you will be able to check out the website for all things entreAmigos, including cool videos, lots of pictures, community calendar, classifieds, upcoming events, library hours and of course, volunteer opportunities and ways to help. PLEASE ADD YOUR SAN PANCHO EVENT OR UPCOMING ACTIVITY TO THE CALENDAR NOW by sending an email to Jill. If you are a community organization and would like to include your contact info, please send it to us now while we are making last minute changes to the site. |
 Three Swallows offers 2:1 Matching grant!
Following up on their generous grant to entreAmigos in 2008. The Three Swallows Foundation has offered a $36,000usd 2:1 matching grant to help entreAmigos find the funding necessary to move operations into a permanent location in the Bodegas (empty warehouses at the entrance to town). In order to receive this grant entreAmigos needs to raise $76,000usd in matching funds before March 15, 2009. Wow! What a challenge!

 The U.S. Air Force delivers entreamigos computers to Mexico.
In September 2008, 22 computers and loads of firefighting equipment arrived in Guadalajara, Jalisco as part of a special delivery by the U.S. Air Force. Bill and Karen Garrison arranged this second large donation of computer equipment to entreAmigos and coordinated its delivery with the cool folks at Mission to Mexico in order to arrange the arrival on the U.S. Air Force flight. Jordan Pollack worked hard on the gathering of fire fighting equipment and has arranged for an ambulance to arrive in early 2009. After spending some time in Customs, the donations just arrived in San Pancho. The computers will be found in the library and the elementary school and some will be donated to other local organizations working with children. |
 Recicla Parque for Punta de Mita!
On Saturday November 29th, we will build our 2nd Recicla Parque playground in a small kindergarten in Corral de Risco (near Punta de Mita). This project has been funded by the organization PEACE and in conjunction with the teachers and parents of Kinder Estado de Nayarit. We are thrilled to be able to continue learning about and building amazing play spaces for children while promoting recycling and sustainable building. All Volunteers Needed!  Keep Recycling San Pancho!
After a market freeze on the purchase of recycled goods posed a serious question about our ability to continue recycling in Mexico... we are back on track thanks to a new deal signed by the Riviera Recicla partnership and product purchasers. Please bring your cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminum products to the recycling warehouse at the entrance to town or drop it in one of the recycling bins around town. Our recycling staff will help you unload your recyclables Monday - Friday 7-3 at the warehouse or you can place them in the marked bins outside.
HOLIDAY SEASON GIVING: During the holiday season the Recycling Center and the entreamigos store will have a special bin marked for Food, Clothes and Toy Donations. These items will be distributed to needy families on Dec. 23rd. To help with sorting, packaging or distribution of these items please contact Barbara. |
 Volunteers needed!
Volunteering is a great way to get involved in the community, improve your spanish and make new friends. We NEED your help! entreAmigos has volunteer opportunities available in the store, library, teaching english and around the community. No spanish necessary. You can even volunteer for us without ever leaving your house! Our current volunteer needs will be listed in our new website or contact Nicole to get started now!
ENGLISH TEACHER TRAINING: Are you interested in teaching English but not sure how? Former ESL program teacher and administrator, Dee Dee Camhi will be giving a three part workshop Jan. 8, 13 and 15 from 1-3 for everyone interested in teaching english this year. Please reserve your space in advance! |

This is a busy season for everyone and especially for all of us at entreamigos. Please join us in our upcoming events that include the Recicla Parque Build on Nov. 29th, the Art Festival in the Schools on Dec. 4th and 5th, the entreamigos Gallery Holiday Benefit on Dec. 11th, the Posada holiday celebration on Dec. 21st, the delivery of food and gifts to needy families on Dec 23rd and then the Colectivo Art Festival Dec. 29th and 30th.
