"Are you Living Your Life or Living Your Past?" by Rae T. Chois, MCC |
I am curious, are you like most people.... have you ever struggled to get what you wanted or to be who you wanted to be? Meaning, you know you want it but can't seem to create it to happen! Have you gotten angry at yourself or frustrated for not being able to get there? Hmmm - maybe it is just me! :o)
Many people develop strategies based on negative conclusions of their pasts and are easily sent into a tailspin. When people enter the "incompletion spin" they often feel confused, frustrated, unfulfilled, and unable to get what they want.
This cycle repeats, and the negative conclusions become reinforced. The conscious mind is dealing with an overload of unchallenged former assumptions and limited conclusions while at the same time it is trying to deal with current internal dialogue about what to do next.
So, what creates this inner tug a war? Consider that when people find themselves living in an intense fog of incompletion and frustration it can often be attributed to one or more of these three key areas:
1. Lack of Prioritization Skills
If prioritization is a challenge, you may recognize areas where you are less effective than you want to be. You will want to develop your ability to creatively explore, make relevant choices, and then powerfully focus so you get what you truly want. You might need practice in organizing your priorities by building your capacity for systemic thinking, creative visualization, exploring potential futures, and knowing what you value. 2. Old Habits
If this is a challenge, your life may be out of balance. You may find that you are attending to only one or two key areas. You tend to limit your range of experience, and this impairs your ability to reach your goals. Limited attention may have created unconscious and automatic habits that have sent you into a narrow daze. It will be helpful for you to redesign a more useful internal map of your life's key elements that will allow you to intend and be present in a way that works to create a rich, fulfilling life.
3. Your Negative Conclusions from the Past May Be Blinding You to Opportunities
If this is your challenge, the significant emotional events unique to your history may have created negative beliefs that you currently hold onto on a conscious or beyond conscious level. As you face your future, these conclusions may be spinning you into confusion. Be clear that the past does not equal the future!
If you remain unaware of what you are doing internally as you move from thought to thought, you might find yourself doing a spin under a gray haze. Making the internal shift to get what you want requires that you begin to observe and take responsibility for your patterns, especially those habitual structures of mind that have been getting in your way.
Although change challenges us, it only takes 21 to 30 days of concentrated and consistent daily focus to shift the habit. How would your life be different now when you are fully alive and fulfilled in all aspects of your development? How would your life be different when you move powerfully towards completion on all of your life's projects? What would that mean to you?
Awareness and curiosity inside yourself about what you are doing are the first steps of the change process. Believe that you will directly change your habits. Observe your thinking habits and your behaviours, own your old habits, and implement strong solution focused techniques in your life. Also, receiving powerful solution focused coaching from an Erickson Certified Professional Coach might help you to live your LIFE and not your past!

"Never give up on your Dreams" By Teresia LaRocque, MCC |
As a coach one of the greatest privileges we have is giving our clients permission to dream again. For many it is very easy to fall into the habit of responding to life or getting caught up in our day to day responsibilities and settling for less then our heart desires. One of the most impactful ways to support our clients in living a life they dreamed of is being a role model of doing the same. After celebrating this past Mothers day, the topic of dreams is on the forefront of my heart, mind and conversations. I am pleased to share that I am going to be a MOM! Our baby is due to arrive mid-July. Our dream of becoming parents did not come as easily as we expected. After five years of trying we are finally going to be parents. What I know for sure is that living the life of your dreams is truly possible. Setbacks will happen and it will not always be easy, but when we keep the vision, access our inner courage and take action, so much is possible.Am I excited to be a mom? Yes! Am I grateful? Yes!! Do I have fears? YES!Isn't it funny how we create what we want and then there is this little voice that says "oh crap, now what?"I remember when I made the decision to start my own coaching business; I quit my full time job and jumped in with both feet. I was excited to embark on this life long passion but within the excitement was also fear "wow, now it is truly up to me to make this happen" When I got my first paying client, the little voice said "will I deliver enough value?"When I secured my first speaking event I understood the statement "humans number one fear besides death is public speaking"Making the transition from entrepreneur to mompreneur brings up the same voice of self doubt: Can I really do it all? Will I always be exhausted? Will the stress of being a new mom with a thriving business destroy my zest for life? Will I lose my passion for the work I do? How will I balance the demands of my business "baby" and my real-life, crying-in-the-next-room, needs-a-diaper-change-NOW baby? For years I've told women just like myself - ambitious, established, and full of vision -that they CAN have it all, and keep a firm grip on their sanity too. Every fiber of my being believed it, and every day I help women achieve it. Through my tenacity and commitment of realizing many of my own dreams and supporting hundreds of others to do the same what I know for sure, is that it is absolutely critical to have a proper support system in place. Never give up on your dreams and S.E.T. yourself up with three critical kinds of support: S: Strategic Support helps us shorten the learning curve, find resources and create faster, better results. It could come from a colleague, someone with more or different experience, a mentor, coach, mastermind group, even someone you hire such as an webmaster or ghostwriter. Collaboration lets you do a lot more with less time. E: Emotional Support is something that every single person on this planet needs. As an entrepreneur with high standards and ambitions, well... emotional support is like oxygen! Make it a priority to build and lean on your emotional support team - a soul community of intimate, like-minded people who give you permission and encouragement to be all that you want to be. We owe it to ourselves to establish relationships at that level - because we need it. T: Task Support comes from those who help us get things done - an assistant, housekeeper, babysitter, even the helping hands of those we love. This kind of support gives us more time and energy for the things that matter most. Work on your delegation skills, as well as systematization and automation. Get creative and dare to do things differently. "If you can dream your dream alone your dream is not big enough"Having a proper support team is key to making any dream come true! www.passionintoprofitforcoaches.comTransform your bottom line * Leverage your business * Love your life |
