Dear ,

It's been a busy month! As usual, I've been working hard on putting together events and resources that will "inform and inspire" highly sensitive people.

Last month, I was interviewed by Grace Kerina for her blog Highly Sensitive Power. Feel free to check out my interview.

Also, I'd like to put out an "open invitation" to anyone who wishes to contribute to this newsletter. Please contact me if you would like to write a guest article (500 words or less), share your story with other HSPs, or have resources to suggest for the newsletter. I would love to hear from you!
How "Connected" Are You?

HandsStudies show that our capacity to "connect" with other people plays an important role in our personal happiness, longevity, and ability to handle stress.

Unfortunately, since highly sensitive people tend to need a lot of "alone" time, it's relatively easy to get caught up in our own "little worlds". While it's healthy to have some alone time, we need to be careful that we don't take it too far and become socially isolated.

That's one of the reasons I started a social "meetup" group called The Highly Sensitive Person Friendship Circle. I wanted to create a safe, non-judgmental, encouraging, and inspirational forum for HSPs to meet and share their stories, interests, and aspirations. My objective is to foster a sense of community among highly sensitive people. After all, a sense of belonging is a very important aspect in thriving as an HSP.

FriendsIt's critical for HSPs to seek out like-minded people, especially those who are nurturing and optimistic. Social groups can provide emotional support, companionship, and an outlet to share your thoughts.

Advantages to joining a social group:
  • Provides opportunities for experiencing mutual support and connection. This encouragement will help you grow faster.
  • Giving and receiving support not only feels good, but also reduces your stress, strengthens your body, and gives you the courage and confidence to be your best self.
  • Keeps you from feeling isolated and lonely.
  • Lifts your spirits and improves your outlook of the future.
  • Helps you utilize your strengths and work with your uniqueness. You feel free to be who you truly are.
  • Helps you exercise your mind. The more you use it, the stronger it gets.
I plan on having teleconferences, teleseminars, and in-person meetings. I'm open to any suggestions about types of events and anything that you can think of to make this group the best it can be.

My long term goal is to connect HSPs to each other from all over the world. The miracle of modern technology, along with your support, can make this happen. Thus, I encourage you to join the group, and please tell others about it.
Economy Takes Toll on Owners and Pets
CatThese trying economic times have created a crisis of pets being abandoned by owners who are no longer able to care for them. Some owners can't afford the cost of their pets. Others are not allowed to bring them into apartments. Animal shelters are having a problem because they are near or at capacity. To make matters worse, a number of shelters have had to shut down due to lack of finances.

If you or someone you know is in the unfortunate predicament of having to "re-home" a pet, here are some articles that may be helpful:
