ICIS 2009
Welcome from the Conference Chairs!
by Jay F. Nunamaker, Jr. and Wendy L. Currie
It is our pleasure to invite and welcome you to the 30th Annual International Conference on Information Systems as it visits the American West in Phoenix, Arizona. It is befitting that the conference returns to its roots as it was exactly 25 years ago ICIS was last held in Arizona.
Those of you who were at ICIS 1984 will notice that Arizona has grown and expanded tremendously over time - much the same way the AIS community has grown and emerged as a leader and world class community. Read More...

President's Message
2009-2010 AIS President
A key component of the mission of AIS is to facilitate IS undergraduate education worldwide. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of universities from emerging countries seeking help from our members to put up IS undergraduate programs. These universities are located in all our three world regions. Helping these universities put up strong IS undergraduate programs will eventually lead to the creation of more IS faculty lines globally and extend the reach of AIS. Concurrently, it is important that universities with existing IS undergraduate programs continue to upgrade these programs to keep in pace with latest developments in the field.

AIS/ACM Undergraduate Model Curriculum
Support for educating our IS undergraduate students is a critical component of what the AIS offers to its members. To this end, in 2007 the Undergraduate Model Curriculum Task Force was formed in conjunction with our colleagues in the ACM to develop a globalized, up-to-date version of the IS Model curriculum or IS 2009. Chaired by Heikki Topi from Bentley University and Joe Valacich from Washington State University, the task force is currently offering an innovative yet practical IS undergraduate model curriculum draft.

AIS Pioneers' Perspective
by Pete Tinsley,CAE
AIS Executive Director
Anniversaries are generally a time for celebration and reflection. Whether it's an anniversary of your birthday (I've quit observing those!), wedding anniversary, or a special occasion in your life, the anniversary marks time in a way that is unique. And so it is with this, the 15th Anniversary year of AIS. It's a 'coming of age' if you will for an organization that can look back on the last 15 years with appreciation for those pioneers, the founding fathers who helped lead us to this point in time.
