SIGASYS

The Accounting Systems Special Interest Group (SIGASYS) was created as the 13th SIG in 2003 by individuals interested in linking the accounting information systems research community with the broader information systems research community.   SIGASYS has a strong commitment to promote and facilitate the creation, presentation and publication of research examining the impact or use of information technology in accounting environments.  The group encourages interdisciplinary research that draws from accounting, psychology, cognitive science, behavioral science, economics, and information technology.

Join us for AMCIS 2009

San Francisco is the place not only to learn and meet your colleagues; it is the place to have fun. Two of the highlights of AMCIS 2009 are the special events where you can relax with your colleagues from around the world.

  • Thursday evening attend the opening reception at the Marriott hotel. This is an opportunity to renew old friendships and form new ones.
  • Saturday evening is the social event at the outstanding Asian Art Museum. This event features California wine and hors d'oeuvres among the art treasures of the Asian world. Because San Francisco is a culinary capital, the social event will not fill you up so you can spend the rest of the evening at one of the city's outstanding restaurants.Don't procrastinate and miss this great chance!  Register for AMCIS 2009 by June 12th to take advantage of the early-bird registration rates.

A few things to consider!

I have just come back from attending Conf-IRM at Al Ain in the UAE. This international conference aims to address the needs of junior academics up to those in mid career. Along with three workshops on the career path of academics, qualitative research and supervising PhD students, there were many research presentations with a number of people giving their first paper presentation at an international conference. I particularly liked the warm, friendly and constructive atmosphere which is usually a feature of a smaller conference. This conference is affiliated to the AIS and next year's conference will take place at a resort on the island of Jamaica.
